And then when we're finally poised to do some damage in the playoffs, we match up with washington and Jacques pulls another miracle and shuts us down. I can see it now.

Rangers lose Rupp and Prust? How ever will they face tough teams like Boston.

Meh trade. Palmieri has had trouble finding his niche in the nhl. Maybe he will do so with the rangers. I always liked Powe.

Don't know what to think of this move.

Rupp apparently showed up much slower and way worst than what he was last year in NY, and with Asham, his presence in the lineup became kind of redundant by some NYR fans admission. Although, those over on the NYR board that expect to see the replacement of Prust there might be disappointed. Powe loves to hit and is a tough guy to play against no doubt, but he doesn't command the same kind of respect Prust does out there, nor is he as much of a pest. He also is a real offensive black hole.

As for Minnesota, well I guess they weren't comfortable with the idea of Konopka dropping the gloves 30 times or so once again this year.

In retrospective, Sather missed big time on that one. Let Prust go for an extra 500K per year, but gives up on Rupp that early in the season? Prust was important for that team that now lacks some PKers, and was a great locker room presence over there.

Well... Powe will help them on the forecheck with his speed. Always liked his game with the Flyers. This move has Tortorella written all over it.

They will get pounded and their meatball coach will cry about it to the media and they will pick up a tough guy off waivers

Yup. I really want the Rags to get pummelled this year... and since we're probably a top-15 "tough" team, it could be us potentially bullying them!

I like our toughness, I really do. But we're not in a shape where I'd be comfortable to see us running around and bullying opponents. Changing the mindset of the whole team is the first step towards becoming a tough, hard to play against team. Right now, too many of our players still don't have it in them to play a nastier, more in your face game. But we've taken many good steps in that direction. And as ridiculous as it looks/sounds, starting Gallagher as a regular is a pretty significant step towards changing our team's mentality. It speaks a long way when a 20 years old kid goes out there and makes the opposing team's life miserable.

I posted this in the pre-game talk thread but I think it's better suited here.

We have 2 scouts at the Canes-Leafs games.

TheFourthPeriod:
Scouts listed for CAR/TOR game from: ANA, BOS, COL, DAL, DET, EDM (2), FLA, MIN, MTL (2), NAS, NYR, OTT, PIT (2), SJ, STL, TB (2), WPG

Not liking that reckless dummy Powe back in the east. He's almost as bad as Hollweg when it comes to respecting player safety.

Huh? He's never been suspended before and he's not really known for dishing out dirty hits, the only thing I've found was something about him hitting Spacek back in 2010 but nothing other than that.

How did "Jacques" get to Washington? And what are the odds that the Habs and Caps will meet in the playoffs?

Sweet, sweet justice.

Leafs get the snow shower penalty and get scored on.
