I might be alone on this but I see a lot of people slotting in Weise as the 15th forward and think he's been one of our better bottom sixer's. He hits, he fights, he's improved his quickness skating and overall playing ability. I'd rather keep him in the lineup.
Clearly he was miscast as a 2nd liner so I can't fault him for that. But right now his game is trash, he's not making good passes and his defensive game is really struggling (he failed to chip the puck out far too many times). Weise and Volpatti are both fighting for the 12th forward spot (which might not even be there if Schroeder sticks) and right now the only thing Weise is doing better than Peppermint is fighting.
Yes, that game still haunts me. Must have been the worst performance by a goalie ever to earn the shutout. I still remember a sequence where he bailed in the corner and the net was empty for a solid 5-10 seconds while the Canucks had possession, and we couldn't even muster a shot attempt. Ugh.
Anyway - Luongo gets the start, Kesler's travelling with the team again...nice news day in Vancouver.
I remember that sequence...made my blood boil, but now I find it pretty hilarious.

You call Weise's hugging match with Mcleod fighting better than Patti?

ya no way was Raymond/Schroeder/Weise our second line. I saw the tweet come in and my buddy said that he couldn't believe that AV was giving Schroeder an oppertunity on the second line, and I just turned and said "Do you really think Hansen/Burrows/Higgins will be a lesser line than any with Weise on it?"
I tend to label my lines by playing style. So that's my bad. They got 4th line minutes but were asked to produce secondary offense in a non-checking role hence a 2nd line to me.
Lapierre 's slow start isn't surprising... Guy usually ramps it up later in a season (and playoffs.) Higgins is a bit more concerning though as he has tended to be fairly consistent during his time here. Plays better with Kesler though I think.

VAN Lines: Daniel-Henrik-Kassian Raymond-Schroeder-Burrows Higgins-Lapierre-Hansen Weise-Malhotra-Volpatti
I like these lines. A lot. As much effective as Weise has been in a hustle/energy capacity, he should really be nowhere near an offensive line at this stage. This also lets all the natural centers play their positions.
Very intrigued to see how the Raymond/Schroeder/Burrows line does.

Wonder if this means AV is getting more comfortable with Schroeder? Part of the reason Burrows was a center is because they used that Higgins - Burrows - Hansen line as our 2nd and also shutdown line. Now that Burrows is with Raymond and Schroeder, you have to think he's expecting them to play bigger minutes and to contribute more offensively.

Yup. My one worry is that once Kesler comes back we see him replace Schroeder and Schroeder sent down/moved to the 13th man spot.
I really hope this is more of AV showing confidence in Schroeder. He has definitely performed well in his time here, and has shown that he could be extremely valuable to this team moving forward imo.

Lapierre was also dealing with groin problems recently. It may be that he's finally close to 100% and Vigneault now feels comfortable upping his minutes.

I don't think Schroeder will be bumped back to Chicago until at least such a time as Booth returns (3-5 weeks from now). With Kesler back, I see this occurring...
D. Sedin - H. Sedin - Kassian
Higgins - Kesler - Burrows
Raymond - Schroeder - Hansen
Lapierre - Malhotra - Weise/Volpatti
Once Booth is healthy is when something will have to give.
