Setoguchi to Pittsburgh

Quote:
Devin Setoguchi is on the trading block. He arrived in great shape, is much more physical but hasn't scored. Still, it's not easy trading a player coming off a career low in goals who makes $3.25 million next year.

Setoguchi and a 2nd to Pittsburgh for Olli Maatta.

But now it's confirmed by the Wild beat writer that he's on the block.

Oh the days when Seto has so much value. He certainly fizzled out.

Why are the Wild adding picks when they only want to get rid of Setoguchi?

To get a recent 1st rounder at a position of need. Setoguchi alone isn't worth that kind of return at this point.

I'd give Olli Maatta straight across.

I don't think I'd trade Despres at this point.

I meant in general and not just for Seto. The only way I'd move Despres is as part of a package for an elite player.

Setoguchi for Tallinder. Wild get the top four D they need, Devils get the top six forward they need.

I'd have to agree. Before the season and a few games into it, I was all for moving him to bring in Sid's winger. But the way he's been playing, hell no! He's looking amazing. Hopefully this kind of play continues and significantly raises his trade value so we can get an elite winger out of him.

If it's from Russo, then it's legit when it comes to the Wild things, no pun intended.

Min/Pit proposals involving Seto count: up to at least 5 now.

Pens would not do Seto for Maatta, has to be Seto+.

This Penguins fan would accept that trade so fast that....

... insert outrageous imagery....

It would be totally bizarre to me if Minnesota could not get a better prospect than Maatta, and by better I mean much more proven and close to being NHL ready. How anyone would think that the Wild should add is beyond me.

Macarthur is mostly a lateral move, and the Wild would have no interest in Colborne.

None, sorry. Think #3-4 defensemen, or other wing prospects with second line upside.

Why, you're welcome .
Ultimately I think this is just a matter of wishful thinking on Champagne Wishes part - with the foundation being that the Wild will have a roster size/waiver eligibility issue to contend with and thus might be inclined to take a prospect back.

I can get on board that line of thinking, but as indicated I don't see it being someone as green resume-wise as Maatta. Setoguchi has scored too many goals in this league and is still too much of a 'could explode in the right setting' kind of talent for that.
Although Maatta being Finnish will help I suppose .
