Loved it from day 1 and love it even ore now.

I was happy we had signed someone that would be able to play with Duchene, and who had a mix of skill and physicality.

He's definitely surpassed my expectation of him though. leading the team in goals thus far was certainly unexpected.

Why did we let him go? So we wouldn't have to pay him. Picked up Brad Boyes for I think around a million for 1 season. Another reclamation project to replace pap. Thanks for the feedback.

Ill tell you right now...I was REALLY excited when we signed him, but I was worried that, like everyone said, it was because he played with Tavares... but he has been everything we need him to be.

Our issues as a team are NOT because of him. He is EXCELLENT!

Looks good for that money. I feel like his speed and passing were hyped more then they actually are, and his goals will slow down for sure.

he doesnt have speed at all , he looks slow out there, but that is of course skating next to duchene, his passing is unreal though, better than staz.

Anyone that ever gave scouting reports on him said he wasn't fast at all. So not sure where that expectation came from.

People were saying he would have the speed to skate with duchene or something.

I believe that was the only fear that we had
That he would not be able to cope with the speed of Duchene.
But that hasn't really been an issue, has it? I think he complements Duchene very well and slows the game down so that Duchene just doesn't go crashing into nothingness and take himself out of the play.

He's started out great, but new acquisitions for the Avs often get out to blazing hot starts (Mueller, Fleischmann, McGinn). Hope PAP can keep it going for a while before succumbing to the organizational expectation for mediocrity.

Our coaching hasn't had enough time to fully suck the production out of him yet.

When new players get to this team:
"Just go out there and play"

Halfway through the season/practices:
"Play this way or else you get benched"

It will take a while before he learns that there's once you shoot it's done, pass and you will play forever.

Interesting comparison! A lesser skater and better passer i think, though.

This dude is sweet with his long hair. He just knows how to produce offensively. It's crazy how late into he career he emerged as a high end talent.

He's a great offensive player. And he plays his heart out. I'm glad we have him on the squad.

Pappy scored again last night too, a pretty sick mid-air batting of the puck. Powerplay goal too. He's 2nd in the western conference in goals scored right now.

We'll see if he can sustain it (probably not) but as Duchene starts to find the net again (Duchene is shooting at a rate of like less than 8%) he will get more assists and probably a few less goals.

Super happy with his contributions though. And he seems like he's fitting in really well with the guys, he looked so happy when he scored his first one

The biggest thing PAP(py) has going for him is his intelligent positioning. He's scoring because he knows where to go on the ice to get goals. That's not going to change, but his luck will (the tricklers he's gotten this year).

I really like the look of that McGinn - Duchy - PAP line, it's working well. Funny how many of us on here knew it would before the season even started, yet Sacco tried to force Landeskog onto that line.
