I agree, but refs are only human. Canadien fans know a lot about hockey, they know the difference between a dive and a trip, incidental contact and interference. They don't need to do this.

If it gets them a powerplay why wouldn't they? To cut the other team some slack? Besides refs should be professional and not let themselves be influenced. I'm sure that they don't get influenced by the crowd in the first place.

Minny has not been selling out. They sold out the 1st game and then has not been sold out since.

Since I can't seem to embed the video, here is the loudest I've ever heard a stadium.

Lot of kudos for Nashville which is surprising; honestly, I think you need to look at it more on a peak vs. average intensity. For sustained crowd enthusiasm throughout the whole season, we're not in the top 10. EDM, MTL, WPG, PHI, etc. are the winners here. Peak crowd noise during the playoffs or a DET/CHI game? I think it's fair to put us up there. Most Preds fans are crossover Titans / SEC football fans and they get pretty rowdy.

I had a great time at the Madhouse on Madison, MSG years ago, and Joe Louis, but I haven't been to that many other barns. I've been to like 100 Flyers games during the Legion of Doom era (lived in Philly, Dad had season tickets); PHI fans are possibly the most crazy in the US. Unfair generalization, but PHI fans are also the most abrasive fans by a wide margin imo. I went to a regular season Canes v Preds game last year at RBC Center that was possibly the quietest sporting event I've been to beyond the high school level. (Tickets third row from glass behind Preds bench for $18 each haha)

So you think that the fans intimidate and influence refs decisions favourably for the habs? Sounds like a pretty good crowd/home ice advantage to me
There's a reason every single player says they love playing in Montreal.

He's just mad. Very mad.

Considering the Oilers have sucked for 6 straight years it is amazing that they still sell out all their games and that the fans can still create pretty cool moments.....despite people hating the Yakupov celebration that crowd was insane when he tied that game!

You're saying this like trying to influence the ref is unique to Montreal.

If you don't have Montreal as #1, you're doing it all wrong.

There is no better crowd in the NHL. None. And it doesn't pain me at all to say this as a Rangers fan.

Montreal is the most penalized team in the league so far this year.

His rant is not based in reality.

Edmonton has some good knowledgeable fans who have their moments in the regular season (LA game this year) but the atmosphere in the building is usually pretty bad. Seems like the fans really get into only about 5 games a season. If the ever-elusive playoffs are involved, THEN everyone goes crazy and they would be top 5 in the league.

Toronto is the worst of any big hockey market, mostly because the high ticket costs.

currently the jets are the loudest by far, when things turn around for the isles and oilers they will be in the top 5 again

carolina is the most under rated

Maybe Minnesota is good now but 6-7 years ago they sure weren't. It was right after they traded Roloson to Edmonton, and they were playing Edmonton. It was an absolute library. I couldn't believe how quiet it was.
