Not at all but he has a very dirty job that only a handful do in the NHL..He deserves more respect here than he gets...I dont know who Justin Beiber is? Is he another soft euro?
Except that he loses all of his fights, which causes the other team to get momentum. He's slow, can't forecheck, isn't defensively reliable, and has 0 offense in him. He used to be a good fourth liner in this league. It will not be hard to find a better replacement for him.

Justin Bieber is a terrible pop singer who appeals to 12 year old girls. Just because he's successful, doesn't mean that I have to like him. Just because Rupp is an NHL player, it doesn't mean that we can't be critical of him.

OK...So you're a super scout now huh? You can find a better replacement for Rupp but Slats and Torts can't? Please put down your video game controller and call MSG and ask to be the new GM...How soon can we expect the Cup under your guidence?? Do you have a 7 year plan in mind?

Let's be real. Rupp stunk last year but many of us gave him a pass due to injury. If he doesn't put a decent season together he's not coming back.

Ok, wiseass. Have fun watching Rupp skate in quicksand for 6 minutes a game. The Rangers should find another guy like Ferriero. Speed, hunts pucks, forechecks well. And has young legs. But yeah, I'm having do much fun watching Rupp lose fights and be hemmed in his own zone everytime he's on the ice.

If it takes being a professional hockey player to accurately criticize NHL players then none of us would be posting on here.

Also, its getting heated in here. Lets relax before it turns into a flame war. You can debate without resorting to name calling or using Justin Bieber (?) as a reference.

You can't take away our right to reference the Biebs. I thought this was America.

Raffi Torres sounds like your man.

Fast, awesome on the forecheck, and delivers devastating (although sometimes suspect) checks.

Likely won't cost much with him being on the final year of his deal, and not a major piece in PHX.

Also, I came here to ask what ever happened with Rupp?

I mean it was just 2 years ago he was the fabled "10 minute, 20 point 4th line enforcer".

I know he had some injury troubles... but hes a lot closer to "Colton Orr" territory than "Shawn Thornton" territory.

His talent is Colton Orr level but his fighting is...bottom of the barrel.

Rupp is just old. He was old when he was brought here, and nobody thought it would be a big deal. He's a nice veteran addition to the team and I like having him a lot more than Asham or some of the other horrible enforcers we've had over the years, but he's really not worth much at this point.

This team really lacks a momentum shifter. A guy who plays on one of those bottom lines and can actually go out and get a big hit AND fight, and then once he's in those fights actually win a few of them. Say what you want about Orr's abilities as a player, but in his time in New York he did a great job helping to shift momentum and winning the big fights. Rupp and Asham are basically guys who are willing to fight, but do it poorly, and if you ask them to do much else they'll fall short.

I still think Nick Petrecki would be a solid addition to the Rangers back-end.

Also, Jared Boll and Derek Dorsett(not happening) would be great.

That is exactly what we need...possibly then a few guys might feel a bit more uncomfortable like Crosby and Malkin for starters . I was just curious...does anyone know our record against the Penguins with and without Avery in the game ? Maybe it is a non factor...but I was just curious on it . Crosby hated playing against Sean...that we all know . We could use a good pesk in our forward ranks IMO . I would love Marchand from Boston...but I know that won't happen .

All these guys mentioned I'd want no part of this team other than Brad Marchand because he's actually a very good player. Though when Callahan is healthy and on his hard game, teams hate playing against him. What would be the point?

What about something based around

Lapierre +
for
Brian Boyle

Fighting ability is very average, but his forechecking, speed and hitting are all top-notch.

Edit*
(Yes I know this is a bad idea because subtracting Boyle makes it worse...I will leave these boards now and likely never return out of the fear of what I just suggested)

Can you predict who the Rangers will trade for him? Thought he looked good in his 1st NHL game. If he was on a crappy team he would have been in the league 2 years ago.

Doubt it happens now with the slew of trades just done by the Rangers. Probably a good prospect like Thomas.

I like him because I played against him growing up. He has a legitimate mean streak.

so that is why Bickel made his NHL debut with Rangers and not with the Mighty Ducks. he was part of the Ducks Organization that didnt have much depth i hope there is an improvement over Bickel on defense in the NYR future

I dont want to rain on everyones Parade after a couple of wins but with Boston coming up is anyone concerned we dont match up physically with them? If the game gets chippy or one sided what will we do? Do they dress Bickle? Asham alone wont even come close. There is more to Hockey than just rolling 4 lines. In a game like this if Boston comes out nasty we are undermanned,

The thought had crossed my mind, yes. But at this point, the (2) points are more important than dressing Bickel (who wouldn't be that much of a deterrent).

The main part that scares me, is that the Rangers pretty much have no one in the top-9 who would be even comfortable dropping the gloves if need be (Callahan I am sure has been told not to). Pyatt maybe.

What you said above is the reason many teams don't want to match up against the Bruins in a 7 game series. They are a big, tough team.

Well last year with Prust,Rupp,Bickle and Dubi we could. This current group can't.Its only been a few short games without a heavy in the lineup and if this game gets nasty and we dont show up im sure Glen will fix that in a hurry.
