It seems that Powe is the better player...what does Minny want with Rupper?

Sather is a thief.

I'm also on the "what was Minnesota thinking?" train. Very happy with this trade when I saw it pop up on the NYR twitter a few minutes ago.

Also kinda sad to see Rupp go in that it seemed like he was a well liked teammate. But yeah his play hasn't been great and the Rangers could use some more speed on that line

Great deal here. Well done once again, Slats.

Perhaps Minnesota wanted "veteran leadership" ?

Bleh...he signed with you guys.

Powe's the man though and Kris Letang hates him. So he should come in handy against the Pens.

Wild got screwed. Powe is a small, but scrappy, fast player who is defensively responsible.

I think they're similar. Great motor, gritty, hit everything, excel on the PK. The only significant difference is that Prust loved dropping the gloves, whereas that's not a big part of Powe's game.

They're both energy guys that the fans will love.

Actually they are a very similar type of player. Powe just doesn't drop the gloves as much. Energy guys who hit, stir it up with the other team, great PKers and skaters. Love the move.

Powe may not be as skilled of a fighter as Prust but he brings the same energy.

I hope this means the Rangers like Mashinter's game.
Powe is not the fighter Prust is, but he attacks on the forecheck and throws the body around.

I don't know why its hard to see why the Wild make this trade, they are small on the Wing, especially their bottom pairings. Plus Rupp fights instead of guys that take a regular shift.

At least #17 opens up again for Dubi and his eventual return.

With Kassian and Konopka already there I would think they were alright but I can see that they need size. Not sure Rupp was the correct player to get.

Oh well, I'm excited to turn a UFA into (2) solid assets for this team.

Funny how Sather literally turned this team, which had little to no NHL depth to start the season at forward, into a team with decent to good depth:

Mashinter
Ferreiro
Palmieri

Can we get a quick scouting report on both Darroll Powe and Nick Palmieri?

All I know about both is when Powe played with Philly and he was a pretty heavy hitter and Palmieri played a bit with Jersey.

What type of players do we have here?

Why the hell would the Wild want Rupp?

Something doesn't compute.

You can say whatever you want about Sather and his pre and post lockout (the other one) checkbook, but the guy makes good-great trades routinely. I think he drugs the other GM's.

He does it in the same way Callahan does. In between the whistles.

Similar, but I don't think Prust was ever a -20 player. Powe is faster, but doesn't drop the gloves much, as you mention, but is also much cheaper ($1.5Mn) than Prust. I like the trade

Very happy to see this. Always good whenever we inject some extra speed into the bottom 6. Also will help our PK, which has not been up to par so far this season.

Where's the genius that told me that Sather likes Rupp and that we won't be able to find a young guy with some speed for the bottom lines?
