Rupp's had 13 goals in a year, not that long ago. Palmieri was way too much trouble for a marginal NHL'er, plus we needed a contract slot just to have one for contingencies. Rupp can play rather than sit in the pressbox. That Kassian wasn't in against the big, physical Ducks says a lot right there. Say goodbye to Matt Kassian, because he must be on his way out by trade or waiver.

You'd think so.

The real question is why are we fiddling with our 4th line (the only line that's actually played good the last couple games) when it's our continued inability to put the puck in the net from our 2nd and 3rd lines that is the problem?

Price of success, my friend.

If Wild won that Ducks game 3-2 and we had to stew on that for three days, would love to see how this thread would go in the other direction.

We are now a cup contender with this trade because we're bigger on the 4th line LOL

Probably because the opportunity presented itself. And they kind of addressed the 2nd/3rd lines by calling up Coyle and shuffling some bodies around.

Awesome trade! Palmieri burned his own bridge, and I was surprised he wasn't a waiver claim. We dodged that bullet so we used him and a guy who can't receive a pass for a guy who is solid on the forecheck and can throw mitts.

The combination of this trade and a bad loss tonight = grab your pitchforks

No one is saying that. . .but did you watch that Ducks game? If you don't think it'd have made a difference if our forwards had been laying some more wood, then we'll just have to disagree about that.

Why? Rupp won't even play tonight. Also... I imagine Coyle, Seto and Granlund will be flying tonight.

Most of it is just Rangers and Devils fans arguing with each other over the other always getting their sloppy seconds.

EDIT: Thought you meant on the trade & FA forum.

I watched the game. Yes the wild were dominated. It had more to do with zero puck possession and chipping the puck out the whole game than size IMO. If you keep your feet moving, you should be able to hold off checks. They get dominated because they have no puck possession, not size. They are constantly giving away the puck all game. This team needs to man up.

I would watch Downton Hockey.

Next season we find out Palmieri became a prostitute.

Well, maybe Fletcher will finally learn that it's a waste to sign dime a dozen grinders to multiyear deals.

First Nystrom, then Powe. Be very worried Torrey Mitchell, you might be the next to go.

Yeo might need to be Barry Melrose'd. This is the highest paid team in the nhl and they need to be held accountable by a veteran coach.

What does it have to do with the trade?

Oh yea I forgot the memo, let's blame Mike for everything!

They don't even use Mitchell right, he's a third liner with tons of speed. 4th line gives him zero chance to score.

Because the coach is responsible for the team. Usually coaches get the axe before the team starts trading players. Look at the blues, lightning. Our team is good on paper, they should be playing good hockey.
