A giant with offense and mediocre defense would be more like Kurtis Foster or Cody Franson.

Best case would be Alex Edler development to the physical and defensive areas

Between RS, Ouellet, Backman and Machenko (if he can stay healthy), Wings fans definitely have some things to look forward to on the back-end in the next few years.

The only thing I've been a little concerned about is his engagement level at times. You watch him, and sometimes he's standing upright and completely like he's not even playing. He looks like the whistle has gone or something, and then he'll receive a pass and he's back into game mode.

Maybe it's just the appearance of the thing, but he seems like he's spacing out. Maybe that's being a bit bored with OHL level hockey too.

Don't count on it. Knowing Holland, they will all be in the AHL in 2020

is the OHL defenseman of the year award basically in the bag for him at this point? and this might sound crazy but is 30 goals realistic for him this season?

3 more assist tonight and was +3 he is now 17-33-50 a +7 in 35 games is leading the defenseman in the OHL, and 30th overall in the league.

Jesus. Detroit may have the CHL's two best defenders, period.

Ouellet is 7-25-32 in 35 GP for a .914 PPG
but is by and far more well rounded and polished defensively he is also in a sort of scoring slump, not sure the numbers but his production was down in January. if he can pick up the pace again and with his team in good playoff position I could see both him and Sproul winning their respective leagues Defenseman of the year award. and both be in the running for the CHL Defenseman of the year award. but to be honest I could see Sproul if he continues to put up these numbers and has another goal scoring run like in late December - January winning the OHL's player of the year award.

Ryan Sproul discusses drought conditions:

also, he has a goal and an assist tonight. Game's not over yet.

More fun stats! He has a PPG of 1.44 (repeating), which is better than the #5 guy in overall points (Eric Locke). However, the next closest guy, Charles Sarault, who is #3, has a PPG of 1.5. Nick Cousins leads the league in points and has a PPG of 1.56.

If Sproul played every game at this pace (of course, he did not and likely would not), he would have 76 points right now to Cousins' 83 and would be 5th in points. He would also have 38 goals, which would be good for second in goal scoring. In the entire league.

Lmao thanks for the info on the drought from a completely different Sproul. he finished the game with just the goal and assist but yeah really putting up some crazy numbers right now

Leading up to the draft I was confused why he wasn't ranked higher, he seemed to have the whole package. I know he needed to polish his game, but he screamed first round to me at the time. I was and still am thrilled that we got him. It's always nice when your team makes the pick your wishing for.

Its because he was so unknown. He didnt even start his draft year in the OHL, came on to the Soo and hardly played at all first half. Then he just tore up in the second half. To go from not on an OHL team to being drafted in the second round is a big accomplishment. It shows how far hes come though, led OHL dmen in goal scoring last year and now is absolutely crushing everyone offensively.

At 6'4 and very mobile there is a lot to like but it isnt all that surprising he was a second rounder to me

1+1=2 and 2nd star. He has 60 points in 40 games.

He just doesn't stop. He'd tied for 22nd in scoring, and 2 points off of #20 (#20 only being of interest because the scoring page only holds 20 entries).
