Apparently the Wild lack grit.

My inside the GM's office sources tell me that Minnesota will also be trading for Colton Orr, Arron Asham and Jared Boll before the day is over.

That will give the Wild two skilled lines, and two "Kick the crap out of everyone like in Slapshot" lines.

Then the new Wild plan will be to knock opponents top lines out of the game, and hope that our top 6 can score a goal, and we win our games 1-0.

Another point some people seem to forget. Rupp will rejoin some of the former Pens staff here.

Maybe it's gonna be a motivation for him. Just sayin'

Don't worry, Spurgeon will be back soon to beef-up the back-end as well. What I don't understand, is that if the Wild are going long-in-the-tooth and beefy, why not Paul Mara?

Now that I've had some time to reflect, I think that this trade ends up costing the Wild two to three more Stanley Cups.

I like the trade... not because of who we got or gave up, it's just a nice bonus to have that extra roster spot open.

Powe, meh at best
Palmieri was never going to make the team, burned his bridge.
Rupp, size, this team lacks
open roster spot

Kassian / Seto most likely moving

good deal for both teams and nothing to get excited for

Seriously, why is it so hard for some people to understand that?

No need to panic or anything.

that my friend is the $1,000,000 question.

Reading some of the posts that are on this thread made me laugh and question some folks sanity. There is little to no need to go in massive detail over a 4th line trade and declare winner and losers. I really got a chuckle over the fire Yeo comments because of this seasons payroll and expectations.

All I can think of is the Arby's commercial where that detective fella is on the boat saying..... "really.... REALLY"

I think they could have had more in return for Palmieri than Rupp but they also got rid of an extra contract. Minnesota should put Rupp, Konopka, and Kassian in the lineup tonight.

Rupp won't be in the line-up until Vancouver....

It's 4th liners for a 4th liner. I wish we could've gotten close to what we gave up for Powe but life goes on. I'm more curious to see what trade is next. Probably Setoguchi?

i'm not really opposed to it, but i don't understand it for the reasons I already stated. it doesn't really address the "need to get bigger and more physical" issue because...the guy plays 6 minutes a night, maybe. only thing it does is free up a roster spot. this just seems like it's part one of a multi-stage plan.

Powe was really disappointing for me.

He was suppose to come in and be a physical agitator but I can't remember one instance where he did either, he was basically just a PKer for us and we have plenty of people who can do that.

Not sure how adding a big 4th liner will make the 2nd and 3rd lines bigger.

Well our 4th line wasn't the problem, speed has been a problem, Yeo liked his options at forward on the PK, and our 4th line was already too expensive. Now Yeo loses one of the better PKers, the team is now slower, and our 4th line got pricier. Don't care about Palmieri he cleared waivers for a reason, the Devils also gave him away for a reason.

Not saying I don't get the trade just don't feel it does anything to improve this team.

It's the reason behind the trade that is the concern. Not the trade itself. Who the hell cares. But the reason why we had to trade what we traded.

4th liners being traded isn't enough to rouse emotions one way or another.
It is what it is. We got bigger and tougher.

Are we honestly on page 8 of a trade that dealt with Darrell Powe and freakin Nick Palmieri?!?!

I can't believe there are so many posters that believe this is going to have much of an impact on our team at all.

We have an open roster spot where we did not have one before. We trade a little and got a little something different back. That's about it.

I know it's been a little slow around here the last few days, but damn! I forgot that the sky in MN is help up by tissue paper...

Wait, wait, wait.

So Muck is wrong and this isn't a wake up call? This isn't 'a shot across the bow'? We just traded Palmer and Powe simply to open up a contract space? This wasn't to shake up the team?

Just hopped on and saw the news.

I guess it's okay. Nice to have a free contract spot. I'll assume its to sign an NCAA free agent toward the end of the season.

It would have been nice to have gotten a late draft pick, maybe a 6th or 7th or something, but oh well. I won't complain.
