Wolski, Lisin, etc. We're light on tradeable assets, so giving them up for pure rentals might not be the best idea. Give up a 3rd for Douglas Murray who almost certainly would go to the open market, or try and wrestle Keaton Ellerby out of Florida for maybe a slightly higher price, but retain him and let him grow with the team.
i wouldnt mind Ellerby.. Murray would be a solid edition but would end up on the open market.. much rather the Rangers trade for someone who the Rangers can still hold their rights at end of the contract as RFA.... didnt really like those Derek Morris type of trades, a few months and then off to UFA...

Eh, he's an over-ager so you have to be careful. He's also not exactly a complete player. I wouldn't mind giving him a minor-league deal to see if he's really taken the leap many people thought he could, but I have a feeling he'll go elsewhere.

I think we'll be hot after Bell this summer, though I think he might be draft eligible for one more year. Lots of teams like Sustr. Ottawa in particular I believe.

Baie Comeau's Petr Straka continues his torrid pace with a 4 pt game (2G+2A) on Sat. In 40GP, he has 32G+29A. 61Pts and +29. He's a UFA.
IMO - Go for all 3 (although I think Bell is going to the draft and is projected as a 3rd rounder - where we have 3-4 picks as of now) if you can!
We need some new talent in the pipeline now, time to cut some fat with some scrubs that are free agents in the organization at the end of the season and take a few chances on new faces...

Totally agree. Considering the amount of free contracts the Rangers have they should be looking heavily into the NCAA, OHL and European free agent market. With their resources there is no reason why they can't pull a NHLer out of this years class.

Some team is gonna roll the dice on Myles Bell, the on ice stuff is there, you have to think his interviews with teams will be figuring out if he's straightened out his past.

IMO the Rangers will be interested but probably lose out like they did with Schultz, other teams have slots open for the taking amongst the top 4, not so much here.

Some really good College FA's this year. Once someone starts the 2013 draft thread I'll discuss some names. With no 2013 1st rounder Its no surprise the threads not been started as of yet.

Straka and Sustr would add some nice depth in CT next year.

I disagree, I feel the Rangers need a defenseman exactly like Bell.

A defenseman with legitimate offensive skills.

We lost out on Schultz, knew that kid would be unreal. I REALLY hope we don't lose out on Bell.

Right handed, offensive defenseman.

I know he's been playing up front, but he could be looked at as a defenseman for the future.

I will probably make a thread in the coming week or so. I was going to today actually but with the trade may hold off.

St. Lawrence has a great crop of players who will likely be signing NHL contracts after this season. Really hoping we finally get one of them, but thus far Toronto has had the best group of scouts at the games.

You're assuming Bell can come in play on our top 4 right(ha, RIGHT)) away. I don't think thats gonna happen. He's not Schultz.

With the amount of names that get thrown out on this board you'd think one of us would get it right.

Everyone in the league on waivers, diminishing playing time and disgruntled are always mentioned here daily - matter of percentages

Don't steal my thunder!!

I am guessing the Rangers play the merry-go-round for their bottom-6 for a while and then trade for a d-man near the deadline.

Knockin ya off that high horse too soon, I'll sit in the sin bin for 2 minutes for that one

I have no idea what this team will do, other than go through Gordie Clark past draft picks that are available for a sawbuck

you called it!

now, keep it going... what's next?
LOL...HEY...yes he called the player in the trade but I brought up trading Rupp today and also about acquiring a pesky PITA type of guy to replace Avery . Post # 89 http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/sh...1#post59021361

LOL...and on Rupp... post # 76 http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/sh...3#post59021043

It is all good...he was done here...time to move onward and upward and here is hoping that all things work out and Sather has finally realized we need to be nastier to play against which does not translate into heavyweight fighting but more elite PITA types of guys with more footspeed than the Rupps can offer . So...we enter the new NHL era like many other teams have already done . Bickel will now be our new heavyweight when needed if not...we will be down to trading cheap shots with the rest of the teams .

Some of us have been talking about trading Rupp for a cheaper 4th line option since the lockout was still on and the cap was rumored to drop to $60m next season. Let Boyler have his moment.

yea pretty much. the top 5 F are basically set with Richards, Gaborik, Nash, Stepan and Callahan but after that the 6th is a toss up. Lets say Hagelin for now with the hope they can get someone else at the deadline as a rental.

I would go with Boyle and Pyatt on the 3rd line with either Miller or Kreider securing the other spot

4th line of Powe, Halpern , Asham could actually cause some havoc. Way faster with Rupp gone. Halpern and Powe can also PK which is key

after that it's call up central with Mashinter, Ferrerio, Palmieri( nice job by Sather getting some call up options).......hope we dont see Newbury or Segal again
