He's starting to look like a very good two-way 2nd liner rather than a 1st line C. I think he's more than a 45 point guy, and he'll fall mostly between 50- low 60s in points. But as we saw last year, he comes through in the playoffs and he never really hurts you. Lets call him a rich mans Mike Fisher.

My speculation is overpartying after being Stanley Cup Champion.

Same diagnosis goes out to Ovi, though he's just making Stanley Cup Money.

He's come out of the gate slow. With Penner underperforming and no consistent wingers, you get an extremely slow start.

Pretty much spot on.

He is the perfect 2nd line C, playing on a team like LA he fits right in... think any Kings fans want to trade him?.. doubtful... Think Flyer fans miss/want him back?... probably.

Richards is a winner, and even though he has lack luster regular seasons he brings it come playoffs... still see him wearing the maple leaf at Sochi.

A long term deal almost never works out unless players are dedicated like Marian Hossa, plus the LA Kings are an offensively inept team.

Hopefully they wake up for and make the playoffs because I think they can turn it on in the playoffs...but to do that they need to get there.

Richards in Sochi? That's not going to happen if he's playing like he has in the last two years.

Patrice Bergeron will get a larger role.

To those saying he benefitted from lavi's all offense system his most productive years were when john Stevens was the head coach

LA plays west-coast hockey which is score not-a-lot of goals and try to not let the puck past your goaltender at all. Richards is a shut-down guy and him scoring goals is a bonus although no question he has to get some offense going this year the same could be said of the entire Kings team. Kopitar has 2 goals and 4 pts, one good night could tie 'em up.

hes been pretty awful this year, lack of effort as well as lack of skill. Its as if he has swapped bodies with Carter, since Carter is giving it his all every shift

I will never, ever regret my Kings trading for Mike Richards.

This is the second, or possibly third Kings player with a thread devoted to him in the past week by curious fantasy hockey players.

We. Don't. Score. Many. Goals.

Bergy is a lock, one of the top defensive players in the world.

Richards has shown he comes to play in big games.... it's plausible he isn't there, but if I am making team now I still have him on the 4th line and 13th forward at minimum.

I prefer to judge Richards on the total 534 games, not the last 7... he has done/proven enough to earn that in my books.

I'm in no way questioning that he's a great player. I used to watch him play often when he was still in Philly and I saw how good he was back then.

I'm just wondering if he's gone from being a safe bet for 60 points, with a chance at 80..to a safe bet for 40 with a chance at 60.

In Philly he was a player who could create goals by himself, even when Stevens was the coach. That's something I just haven't seen from him in the games I watched this year, and it seems it was likely the same last year judging by his 44 points.

I know how great he is defensively, I still think the Kings won that trade.

But its not just the last 7 games, it was all last season too.

Again, I still think the Kings won that trade, I'm just wondering where the offense went to?

I understand the Kings dont score many goals, but that hasnt stopped Kopitar, Brown and Williams from keeping a high scoring pace.

As a Flyers Fan, I can say that Richards is more than just his point total. He could get 10 points in a season and still be a key component of any team. He brings many many intangibles that teams need to be successful.

It wasn't all last season. Richards was playing great before his concussion.

I'll still take him on Toronto.

The fact is a lot of LA players are struggling. I think Mike Richards is a great fit alongside Kessel.

Overrated and declining. In my opinion, I think the Kings are going to be paying a 3rd line center a lot of money in 2-4 years.

Yup, 20 points (11+9) in the first 24 games. Suffered the concussion in December and really didn't recover until pretty late in the season. 15 points in the playoffs (20 games).

Has not been playing good this year. Last few games have been better though.

I was pretty confused as well. Equally confused how the Devils were there also.
