Comrie - 50% off!

Sorry to start yet another tedious Comrie thread, but I was Christmas shopping today at W.E.M. and the champios store had a huge rack of Oiler/Comrie jerseys for sale by the entrance.

The kicker...there was a sign saying, " All Comrie jerseys 50% off."

I asked one of the salespeople if they had moved any, and he said they haven't sold a Comrie jersey since before training camp.

I know the logic behind this, but I found it quite funny nonetheless.

(P.S. Mods if you wish to move this thread, I understand.)

What were the Comrie Jersey's priced at with the 50% off? From a Financially embarrassed University Student who would love to have an Oilers jersey, this might be OK. (who care about the comrie)

Just had an interesting thought here. For those looking for an Oilers Jersey, why not buy the cheaper jersey's with Comrie on them and just change the 9's to a 3 and change Comrie to Hemsky! Might be cheaper then buying an acutal Hemsky jersey!

Depends on the style of jersey, but most times the numbers are glued and sewn on. It would cost you the same fee for one number as it would to have the whole jersey done too IIRC.

Ya, I noticed the deal today too, at Kingsway, I asked the guy how many they've sold and he said 2, and he then said that one was returned a few days later because I guess a mom bought it for her son and her son yelled at her so he went there with the reciept and returned it. The guy at the til also mentioned the Hemsky thing too. I told him I would give him
$50.00 and I'd just spray paint a big X through the back of it, but he said they wont go any lower than half price.

SO WHAT WAS 1/2 PRICE? (for those of us who don't live in Edmonton)

This is really quite comical I find.

Two years ago, this guy was the toast of the town, he was the greatest thing. Now, people won't even touch his jersey, at 50% off. I wonder what would happen to the girls who wear Comrie sweaters to the game... Not very friendly remarks I presume.

Has there ever been a greater fall for any local hero like this? This is pure Sophocles' Oedipus, how he falls from grace in such a short period of time, banished from his hometown.

LOL. I'm sure quite a few Oiler fans wouldn't mind a self-blinded Mike Comrie roaming the countryside... Broaches to the eyes though. What a way to go. :p
