What's weird is I thought Hamilton had already been called up for this game, and thought he was taking Brown's spot.

So either McLaren won't be ready tonight and will start on Saturday (which is likely frankly), or some one else is coming out of the lineup to make room for both Hamilton and McLaren.
Gardiner was sent down yesterday which brought Toronto down to 22 on their roster. They called up Hamilton to bring them to 23 and put Brown on the IR to keep them at 23 after claiming McLaren. McLaren likely won't be available tonight.

Per Darren Dreger, MTL puts Aaron Palushaj on waivers.

Could any MTL fans advise on what his upside looks like?

Hard to say if there's real NHL potential there. Might just end up being a good AHL guy who can fill in for injuries from time to time on a 3rd line in the NHL. He's fast, has a decent nose for the net, and usually plays with a lot of energy. Shot is average, doesn't have much in the way of hands, and isn't physical. Pretty smart player though.

I suspect a lot of teams have a guy like Palushaj in their system already, sort of a guy who just can't seem to get to the next level but is too young to give up on. I hope he passes through waivers if for no other reason than to give the Bulldogs some much-needed offensive help.

Not an NHL regular.

Probably one of those guys you'd want on your AHL team to make it competitive and could get the occasional callup, but in the games he got last year he wasn't all that impressive. Guy gave 110 percent every game.

Career minor leaguer? He started pretty well his first couple years in the system, at least in terms of AHL production, but in his first extended look last year he was pretty invisible. For like half a season. Granted, it was on a sinking ship team with no chemistry and a total grab-bag of linemates. A few flashes, but nothing that would make you confident he would stick in the NHL. And then we got to see a fair bit more of the Bulldogs to start this season and he was really underwhelming there too.

I don't think there is any concern from the Habs in waiving him, put it that way. Most NHL teams have guys like him on the farm already. Sometimes they get called up. Seldom they stick or evolve into regular players. But who knows. We thought before last season that Palushaj might pan out. Much less so one year on. But it's just 1 year... he's still young enough that maybe he gets back on track.

Bolduc is a great fourth liner. So fast and very physical. Wouldn't be surprised if he gets claimed, but i definitely don't expect it.

It was the same story with Geoffrion in Nashville. People wanted him around because of his name and his ties to local hockey, but if not for those things, he was pretty far down the depth chart.

Does that mean that Brent Burns will be activated from IR to play against Phoenix today?

It definitely means he's close, though I'm not sure if you have to wait until the player is cleared and demoted or not.

Don't know anything about Petrecki or Tyrell, but they're still pretty young and were taken in the first two rounds.
