The point is....if,when Boulton runs MDZ through the glass or gives Gabby a cheap shot to the head, what do we do? Please dont tell me,make them pay on the PP...My point is Asham cant answer to Boulton or anyother top heavy...Mash better impress..

I dont think he handled the situation well at all and should have just went to work on his game. Like I said before hes certainly not guaranteed to make it to the big club, but I think this will wake him up and he'll give it his best shot here.
Did you know that Houston's average attendance is about 50% higher than the Whale? and had a larger disparity last year?

What was Rupp going to do? Fight him to a split decision accomplishes what?

If a deterrent existed I would love that. I don't believe any does, however.

Neither can Rupp.

Terribly overrated player. Not a good fighter, slow as ****, rarely engages physically and is prone to injury.

He is living off of reputation as a 'big game player', which he scored the GWG vs. the Ducks in 2003. He only played in 4 playoff games that year.

Rupp was never a regular PKer his entire career, he has a mediocre fight record too. He was probably decent on the forecheck in his prime, but he is way past that.

Truly one of the more overrated 4th liners in the game. Crap offensively, crap defensively and punching bag for the opposition.

I really wouldn't. 3 seconds into the game, I want to see hockey. Not boxing.

Boulton plays for the Islanders.

And hell yes, take Clarkson off the ice with him. An exchange of a solid player vs. a AHLer for 5 minutes, sign me up.

if neutralizing guys like Orr and Boulton were Rupps duties he sure as **** didnt know about it..... either Asham can fight them or nobody can, that way we dont piss away momentum like we normally do after loosing a fight.

we literally lost nothing in moving rupp, dude cant fight, cant skate and how many ex captains/leaders do we need in the locker room?

if they went un-fought, then there would be no reason to make threads after the game complaining about how soft our team is, or ripping whoever fought for not being a good enough fighter... and thats a problem around here

I don't think Callahan will play on the 3rd line either. But you're still a noob.

Great move for the PK if nothing else.

And it will be really interesting to watch Palmieri. Has the potential to be a good bottom 6er. Strong depth move.

Rupp and Prust didn't scare people. They stood up for them.

Boulton doesn't scare people. And if he or anyone else really wanted to take runs at players, an enforcer doesn't scare them.

Most of the players would step in to defend their teammates, or themselves. Yes even the ones we'd rather not (Callahan, Pyatt, Boyle, people forget Girardi fights well).StuBick exists mostly for that reason. Masher is supposedly able to punch people in the face really well, and Asham is more than happy to fight.

The true enforcer is all but almost gone. John Scott still exists because he's the biggest and the meanest, but guys still fight him.

Same here...that would be a plus . I don't think Boulton is a real concern so much that Asham could not handle him . If he can't...he may as well be shipped out too . Boulton like Rupp...is just about done and Asham has one foot out the door as we speak .

Rupp from 3-4 years ago (Pens) was a handy player but unfortunately I think he is done.

I don't think people realize how well Mashinter fights. Bickel is a legit middleweight at this point.

Powe > Ferreiro
Mashinter has the potential to be Rupp in his prime

Not gonna scroll through the pages.

I've heard Powe and Palmieri before, and know nothing about them except they're bottom 6 players.

Can someone give me a run-down about their games?

Always liked Rupp, but unless the Rangers plan on playing every game outdoors he's pretty worthless.

I like Powe. Improves our PK which is definitely lacking depth following the loss of Feds, Prust and Mitchell.

Palmieri (NaPalm as one friend called him) is a big guy with some skill, but hates using his body. Will fit right in with Boyle.

Palmieri has, or had, top-six potential. Supposedly he was miserable in the Minnesota/Houston system, but he had a good stretch in NJ. He's only 23 and has actually got some skill, including a really wicked shot. He's physical, can make a living in front of the net and not that quick. He's a NY kid and supposedly a Rangers fan, or very excited about a chance to play in NY.

Powe is a pretty good skater who blocks shots and PKs. He'll be a much better overall contributor than Rupp. Probably just about as useless offensively, but he'll get PK minutes right away and he's good defensively. Smart player overall. Princeton grad.

I agree... If Mash doesn't work Sather will find a guy to get it done. He always has a tough guy on the squad. I'm pulling for him as I do for every guy that gets the call up.

On Boulton, if anyone here ever meets him ask him specifically what the Isles said to him when they offered him a contract. It was because he was considered by current (Tavares) on the Islanders as one of the best guys at what he does.

I know it's a tough thing to accept for the non fight fans. They cry like babies on every fight. But... The players themselves feel very differently on the matter, as do most coaches and General Managers. I'm a huge proponent to utilizing guys not only as deterrents, but as guy that also impose their will on other teams. Non-fight guy will never understand it. While on the Internet they seem to come out in masses, they must never go to the games because I never see anyone sitting down when one of these guys drop the mitts.

On Rupper. I appreciated him for his role. He wasn't the toughest guy on the block when he was acquired. He has "Tortorella"written all over him. I think Torts said something along the lines of "He has to be able to not only play, but to contribute" when he discussed the enforcer role. Rupp by reputation strictly as a player was known as maybe the best of the tough guys. As a fighter he was mediocre at best but he did give some guys a hard time. Specifically Orr. As a NYR Rupp just hasn't delivered like they hoped. I'm still a fan of his, he does the job. He stands up for his boys. I appreciate everyone of these guys. He just didn't get it done here as good as the Rangers had hoped.

I think the return was pretty good as well.

He can throw some bombs but he seems to be off balanced in a few of his fights. I wouldn't say he's a legit heavyweight but I think he can be just as good as Rupp.
