Here's my proposal

To TOR

Luongo

3rd rounder

To VAN

Kessel
cond. 1st (if Kessel re-signs here, it becomes a 2nd)

I'd love to see Kessel in blue and green.

If they could fill a hole by trading one of the goalies they are just that much more likely to make serious noise in the playoffs though. Luongo it looks like won't get back much, but (even though it has apparently been said he won't be traded) Schneider could bring back a very good player.

I think you're dreaming. Not even considering the conditional pick.

I'd also be curious here. I don't think McKenzie has too many sources within the Canucks camp.

Toronto would be beyond stupid to make that trade. Moving Kessel is an indication of a retooling. They will look to acquire young talent and prospects. Why would they want Luongo?

I suspect he meant in McPhee's "we can't take on Luongo's contract" remark. People would immediately jump on Schneider being the target. Now they won't.

Much to my chagrin, Luongo's contract does seem to be a hurdle few GMs are willing to cross.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's common knowledge throughout team executives that Schneider will not be traded.

Nonis, Yzerman, Bowman, Tambellini. Any combination of these guys and others could have told him this. If enough people are telling you Schneider isn't getting traded you're probably not going to doubt them all.

If Bob McKenzie knows Lu isn't being shopped to Washington, the least he could do is dig around as to why Gillis and Gilman were at the game in Washington...you'd think an insider worth his salt would be able to find out what's going on there...unless it was a pure fishing expedition by the Canucks brass.

It just sounds like a very vague immeasureable thing (how would GMs even know?) that can't really be taken too seriously to me.

Don't see anything like that in the article: http://www.vancouversun.com/sports/h...331/story.html

Friedman and Healy phrased it a bit differently on HNIC hotstove, saying that before you could even consider trading Schneider you have to sit to with Luongo and discuss wanting him to stay longterm since he's essentially been prepared to pack his bags for 8 months. Now, I'm not sure that either of them have the contacts to know if such a conversation has taken place, but food for thought I guess.

Where? On SNET?

Edit: Liut said they would react to that (the deadline) when it came to pass. Not concerned.

Toronto isn't trading Kessel, not a chance.

He did, we were scouting a college FA from Yale.

I actually they might consider it, especially if the season turns sour. His contract is up and they could get quite a package.

Can't imagine it's going to be Luongo going the other way if they're trading Kessel. It would pretty much mean they have to embrace a rebuild since there's really no one else on that team to build around.

By the Liut article, it sounds like Schneider may be more sour than originally thought. It almost sounds like ultimatum time from Cory.
