Kessel always seemed like a guy who bought a few too many meatball foot longs at Subway:

Soccer is known throughout much of the world as the beautiful game. But the sport’s ugliest side — the scourge of match-fixing — will not soon go away. With the 2014 World Cup in Brazil drawing closer, a European police intelligence agency said Monday that its 19-month investigation, code-named Operation Veto, revealed widespread occurrences of match-fixing in recent years, with 680 games globally deemed suspicious. The extent was staggering: some 150 international matches, mostly in Africa, Asia and Latin America; roughly 380 games in Europe, covering World Cup and European championship qualifiers as well as two Champions League games; and games that run the gamut from lower-division semiprofessional matches to contests in top domestic leagues.

I've played ice hockey, roller hockey, ball hockey. I've coached ice hockey and street hockey games. I've refereed games. I think hockey every day.

I have never played underwater hockey but have thought about it. Now, I discover there's underwater ice hockey?!!! I would do it in a nanosecond if I had the money to take the time and cover expenses. I'm turning 44 this year, about to do my first triathlon this coming fall, but would most like to try:

Quote:
Underwater ice hockey (also called sub-aqua ice hockey) is a minor extreme sport that is a variant of ice hockey. It is played upside-down underneath frozen pools or ponds. Participants wear wetsuits and flippers, and use the underside of the frozen surface as the playing area for a floating puck. Competitors do not utilize any breathing apparatuses, but instead surface for air every 30 seconds.[1]

It is not to be confused with underwater hockey, in which the floor of a swimming pool and a sinking puck are used.

The first underwater ice hockey world cup was held at Weissensee, Austria in February 2007. Finland finished first, followed by Austria and Slovakia. The other playing nations were Czech Republic, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland and Slovenia.
A Team Canada needs to participate! (Gawd, if I was 20 years younger...) Finland rocks so hard in hockey, even underwater ice hockey. If I wasn't Canadian I'd wish to be a Finn.

I'll try downhill skating. It's on my bucket list.

Wouldn't it be cool if NHL all-star gamers competed in it? (if insurance would cover it)

If they play on the underside of ice, how do they surface every 30 seconds?

Completed the first season of TNG Star Trek and watched a couple of episodes of the 2nd season. What an awesome show. The only bad thing about watching Star Trek at my age and in 2013 is how lonely it actually feels to discover it now

I was wondering this too! I would not enjoy playing that game, but I'd love to watch!

Wouldnt call it the worst. The last season is pretty inconsistant. Its definitly a slow season though.

I know , as usual when I discover something new that I enjoy I went all asperger syndrome about it and red all the debates I could find on TNG while avoiding spoilers and found out every reviews had season 1 & 2 as the worst.

Oh , and I almost forgot:

If you pay $8 a month for Netflix instant que you can watch every episode of every Star Trek show on your tv or computer. I have all of them in my que. They use an ice hole for the underwater hockey.

The Predators have won 4 in a row and are in 2nd place in their division. The Wild are 4-5-1 and 2 points out of 2nd place in their division which is pretty good considering that it normally takes teams about twenty games for team chemistry to adjust after two of their top players are new. Ten games is way too early to start judging player's performances especially when one of them is a on a new team with two new top players.

Weber went from being a 50 point defenseman to an 8 pts one.. Thats a massive drop even for this situation and/or sample size.

Have you ever played Broomball? It's a sport played running on ice with your shoes on and a stick with a wedge on the end similar to a broom. We've got a league with 80 teams in it at my school(Boston University) and it's a great game.

If he has 8 points after 10 games that means he's on a .8 ppg pace. That's actually an improvement over 50 points in an 82 game season. A .8 ppg for a dman is very good.

He's on pace for 8 points. He's 1 assist in 10 games.
