Unaware of World War II. Quite an interesting read:

Started dying off not long after they established contact with civilization. Hmmm, no surprise there.

I wish the article was more specific about how they had to constantly deal with the horrendous cold on a daily basis. Fantastic read though.

Looking forward to the terrible Hollywood horror-movie spinoff about curious geologists who are lured into a secluded russian cabin and are viciously murdered.

Except that as it is reported, aside from one of the deaths, they supposedly had nothing to do with having contact with civilization. There's also a real drastic difference between contact after a generation of isolation and contact after millenia.

Interesting but they are not the only ones. There are a number of tribes in Africa and South America that very likely have no clue about any of these same events.

I found it interesting that the some remaining daughter decided in her 70s to continue to love in the same manner.

Yes, there are a number in Brazil for sure, and I don't doubt that there are a handful elsewhere - this is a little different in that these people WERE of modernized society, and left it, only to be rediscovered again. I'd love to know more about the isolated tribes, but information about them is naturally going to stay sparse.

My favorite part is how the guy noticed satellites in the sky and figured man had put them there.

On the (slightly off-) topic of tribes that have never been modernized or interacted with other humans, I'd love to hear what happened to that tribe discovered a few years ago in the news. The only image in the news was them all getting ready to throw spears at the helicopter above.

I think the fact that this was in Russia, a country who was a major player in WWII, makes this rather remarkable.

WWII didn't directly touch South America and in Africa was more or less limited to the north and the territories of French West Africa.

Then again, Russia is freakin' huge.

The Sentinelese in top spot are pretty bad ass here. Most here haven't had contact because they're way out in some jungle that no one's ever been to. These guys were first recorded being found by European's in the 1700 but greet any visitors with a hail of arrows

No kidding. I think I could for a few days... if I got lucky, maybe a few weeks. If I pulled off the amazing, maybe a few months but I really doubt it. Years, no way. A few days is probably the most realistic expectation.
