that's about 32 mil right there...
Tyler Wright and Jonathon Hedstrom won't be on the team. Ducks will probably come in about $40-million for 23 players, assuming no further trades.

Bwahahah! My roommate is going to have to disown the Ducks due to his blind raging Pronger hatred.

As someone with no attachment to either team, looks like an good balanced swap. I'd like to find out what the condition is for the 2008 1st.

Not with the forwards they currently have. Frolov-Conroy-Cammallerri doesn't exactly scare HOF NHL dmen like Pronger and Niedermayer. The Kings do have Joe Thornton's cousin though, Randy Robitaille can't be too far behind.

Well, the Rangers also had Messier, Graves, Kovalev and Richter. The Wings had Yzerman, Fedorov, Shanahan, Larionov. The Avs had Sakic, Forsberg, Drury, Hejduk and Roy. The Devils had Elias and Brodeur. The Ducks have Selanne.

The Ducks will be really good but I wouldn't be planning any Stanley Cup parades just yet.

Don't forget Tikkanen off the 94 team.

The condition is: Ducks make the SCF.

Anaheim has it better than any of those situations, though. Both of their defensemen are still in the primes of their careers and, arguably two of the top-5 defensemen in the league. You can't say that for any of your examples. It's just unheard of to have two defensemen of this quality on the same team (and signed long-term).

Well, Team Canada had both defensemen in the Olympics this past year and we saw how that went (although Nieds didn't play, heh).

It still is going to be interesting to see what pairings the Ducks will go with and how much ice time both dmen will get. I figure they would be on different pairings during even strength situations but paired together for the powerplay. Two dmen who can log over 28+ mins of ice time is quite a luxury.

In a way, the Ducks are in the same situation as the Kings. They have over half of their team salary tied up on defense and are counting on the young forwards to have big years in order to bring success. It'll be interesting to see these two unbalanced teams battle it out next year. Both teams are going to be relying highly on scoring from the blue line.

As much as it pains one to say, what a coup for the Ducks.
No doubt their D is going to be extremely tough.

At this point its all on paper, until the season gets underway.... I find it rather amusing how many posters, on several boards including this one, are ready to just hand them the SC because they picked up Pronger. The same type of insane comments were made about a few other teams last year based on their signings. Just remember that anything could happen during the regular season - the injury bug could infiltrate the team, other organizations solidify their teams, etc. There's always a surprise or two each season.

Wow...I leave for a few days and come back to the Ducks getting Pronger?

I have always hated the guy and now my hatred can reach new heights now that he is on that team.

If Blake can play like he did the 2nd half of last season, then I am happy we did not deal Frolov or whoever else it would have taken to get Pronger. I did not see him do anything really game altering in the finals so I would not mortgage any good young players for him if Blake can do anything close to what Pronger did.

So far I am happy with this offseason, lets see DL get that top 6 forward we seem to have needed for the last decade

Why not cry now? They already got to the conference finals a second time before the Kings.

I'm not saying that it makes them a lock for success... just that it's really unparalleled, at least in the modern era of hockey.

As Kevin Lowe said in his presser this afternoon...
"St. Louis had MacInnis and Pronger on defense for a lot of years and they didn't win any championships"
Think he's pissed at Pronger????
