I finally played a full game in the same position for my AHA team on Saturday night.

Basically, with a short bench, I stayed put as one of the 4 D for the entire game. Played on the left side, mostly because of the stronger skater preferring to be RD rather than being comfortable there, although I have grown to prefer the left side anyway, and being a right shot means that most of my passes across the ice have to be backhanders.

That actually worked to my advantage a couple of times.

Won 5-1 and ruined the winning streak of the other team.
No points, five blocked shots, three shots on net, lost count of the takeaways since I have a “wicked poke-check” and “accidentally” leveled a guy two inches taller than me and about 50 pounds heavier.

Oops.

I felt that yesterday morning. Woke up feeling old…

Yeah that's the plan. Actually what we do now anyway.

Busy weekend, but I made a shooting tarp for my basement so I can work on my shot.

Also, didn't record the full Superbowl because of the DVR...so I was pumped for the 49'ers comeback...then it shut off and I had to read Twitter. Boo.

Yeah, tell me about it. I have a 10kg (20 lbs) dumbbell that I've tried to occasionally use to gain and maintain some upper body strength. And I usually regret it the day after. That being said, I'm the kind of guy who uses all of his strength when working out, which is a bad plan. As a result, I seldom get up and work out at all. I've gained weight over the last few months and haven't gained any strength. I really should go to a gym instead, I wish I could afford a trainer or something.

I'd love to do some boxing. I've got good basics down since I've learned quite a lot of theory and been able to put it to good use every time there's an opportunity. But I still lack a place to train it constantly as well as someone to teach me more. I've got a friend who's done boxing when he was younger, but I don't think he has the time since he's got a full-time job and he usually works at night/morning.

If you get a chance, I highly recommend finding a boxing gym. Great workout.

I'd love to try a boxing bag workout.

I chipped ice for about half an hour yesterday. Talk about a core/forearm/shoulder workout. Ouch.

I still like P90X. Every workout/disc whoops your ass. Basically only use your own body, a chair and some bands. Stay sore for a full 24 hours.

Insanity is another great BeachBody product. Pure body weight routines that are less than an hour - 60 days instead of 90.

Using both has brought me pretty incredible results.

I just can't do 90 minutes per day of workouts. I have okay results with 15 minutes 3-4 times per week with kettlebells, bodyweight, and dumbbell stuff. Not putting on tons of muscle or dropping a ton of fat, but getting faster, stronger, and better cardio for hockey.

Yep. The problem is that it's also expensive. I'm talking 190€ ($250) for an 11 week boxing workout course.

I'm looking for a sandbag at the moment. Fits my budget better and my friend promised me his gloves once I buy a sandbag. Only problem is that, well, I live in an apartment. Last time I had a sandbag, I got constant complaints from the neighbors about the noise.

Thankfully, I just thought of a place for it. The balcony. Yeah, it will be cold in the winter, like now. No, I don't care. The workout will warm me up anyway.

I've been doing Insanity for about a month, it's tough but doesn't require any equipment and doesn't take too long which is why I like it.

EDIT:

Original interview, uncensored. Even better than the news clip.

Warning: Lots of language.

Got hacked in a beer league game Sunday. Broke my wrist. 27 years old with a cast on my right (dominant) arm. Awesome.

Sorry to hear that - sucks when people in beer league think they're playing for scouts and hack you.

Was so pissed. All because some clown can't keep up. Think he's getting tossed from the league.

If it was a HockeyFinder league... Make sure the Ds know what happened. If else, can't help you.
