So why are the two most senior hockey managers scouting a player on the other side of the continent when they have scouts available to do that for them (not to mention video). Just one of the two I could write off as a possible (although unlikely considering the shortened season coupled with newly minted CBA) scouting mission, but both? Hard to deny that someone is on the move.

This is true, I was thinking the same thing. You never see GM's doing the leg work on minor things.

It is, but it depends on the precedent. For instance, did both GMs go to scout McEneny before signing him? Tanev? Lack?

Don Taylor is speculating that Luongo is getting dealt to Yale. Thoughts?

Just two goals against.

Stops a penalty shot in OT.

Gets another "W."

Yeah, go ahead and trade Luongo

Luongo has not let in more than 2 goals a single game this season, and we've been playing like crap. Seriously, we should not be trading him any time soon.

Luongo straight up for Ovechkin.

The canucks couldn't afford it next year...the plan would be to have Ovechkin dominate this season and the playoffs, and sell him next year when his value is high again.

Yandle, IMO, is still an underrated Dman. Possibly top 10 right now. Look at the emergence of Phoenix and you'll see his improvement is correlated with it. I'd definitely make that trade, makes us a much better team.

I pray for Schnieder's next outing.

Anything over 2 goals against will see him get eaten alive by Canucks Nation.

My god is the bar set high now.

Luongo's playing fantastic. Hasn't upped his trade value one iota. He's playing like he does every year , but the times he plays like this gets shorter and hes got a 10 year contract.

Why do we canuck fans think Luongo playing BETTER is going to help us trade him. His talent was never an issue . Its his contract.

I say we give Cory Schneider a bunch of starts and see if we can trade him.

Again, Washington seems the perfect fit for Lu...

Laich, Brouwer, Chimera, Johansson or Forsberg...a lot of players who could fit nicely with the canucks.

but i agree with a lot of people here, he's playing so well right now, i don't thinks the canucks will rush this trade, they will make a choice between schneider and luongo just before the deadline probably.

Will have to wait and see, but its sure nice in shortened season to be able to rotate goalies and feel so good about it.

Don't think Laich would be coming back, he is injured and has not played a game this season, that would be a very bad trade to make.

Brouwer or Johansson
Wilson or Forsberg
Neuvirth
Pick

For

Luongo
Higgins

More concerned with the quality of his play, not the results. If he looks awesome and lets in 3 I could care less, but if he looks really shaky and only lets in 2 then I won't be impressed.

See this is where it gets really tricky. I think AV has messed up bad here. Way too many starts for RL, I know you're winning and all, but Schneider only looked really bad in 1 game. Schneider is your guy going forward and RL isn't going to play his way in and out of any trade. You know what you're getting when you trade for Luongo, he's extremely consistent in that regard.

I don't think anything has changed since last year in terms of who the guy is. I'm just basing that on how AV is handling the workload. AV has had Luongo for a long time now and he owes a lot of his success to him. He's not going to suddenly stop playing the guy without a reason. I'm not sure what Schneider and his agent were thinking if they were expecting 75% of the starts with Luongo still here. In any case, I'm sure it gets resolved by the draft.

I watched the game. Roberto basically stole two points for his team tonight. Perfect time for a trade or is he playing too well to let go? For the Canucks, not a bad problem to have, but somebody is going to have to make a really interesting decision at some point.

If AV had started Schneider this game, then he would have only opened the door to a controversy. Riding the hot hand, making this a pure meritocracy, is the only way to keep the dogs at bay here. This is what AV is doing. Now it's up to Schneider to _earn_ the net back. I believe he can do exactly that.

Liut states that he's pragmatic. He was also a former goaltender. I think he and Schneider have a pretty good handle on what to expect from here on out. Earn your shot, stay professional, and the situation will resolve itself naturally. Got to have some mental toughness, and Schneids has it in spades.
