Also, the Wings don't need Yandle. The Wings don't want Yandle. They want Dmen who can actually play defense.
I didn't say he is too old. I said he is getting old, where Yandle is quite young.

The more I think about this though, the more ridiculous it is. It would take us A LOT more than Yandle to get him.

That aside, what would it take for Phoenix to get Fillpula? Isnt he in the last year of his contract? I have always liked his game.

Datsyuk has the whole Russia issue, but he wouldn't be available for just Yandle if he even was ever made available. Even for a season and half I would guess Datsyuk's sticker price would be shocking to a lot of people.
If Detroit is not in the playoff hunt at the deadline or miss the playoffs, all bets are off, and the rebuild will make these names available.

No it won't, but its rather amusing that you think that.

IMO this is a easy no for Detroit, Vrbata isn't a need with all the smaller skilled forwards we have both on the roster and in the pipeline. Also Jurco isn't worth much right now because of his slow start in the AHL I'd rather they hold on to him since his potential is very high and he is pretty much the only prospect we have with decent size and top end skill.

no from detroit IMO.

datsyuk is worth yandle, larsson, and probably throwing in boedkker and a 1st. i believe datsyuk is the best center in the league right now

OEL? Yotes would need to add.

On a serious note, there's rumblings that Rundblad could be available.. What kind of return could he draw?

Ideally I think the Wings would have interest in Morris or Michalek, but Michalek was just re-acquired and Morris has said how much he loves PHX and has a NTC.

Rundblad + Michalek for Flip
or
Michalek and conditional 2nd for Flip

The 2nd is based if he re-signs in Phoenix or not. His contract is up right?

I'd actually like the first one but I may be the minority in this. Losing Flip would hurt, but adding a RH top 4 shutdown defenseman and a high upside player in Rundblad would be tough to pass on.

If we're talking datsyuk for yandle I would take the trade immediately. Yandle is very skilled at generating offense, however he is prone to mind-blowing defensive mistakes at times. Additionally he has a tendency to overcomplicate his passing plays on the powerplay and virtually never shoots the puck during the man advantage and overall he seems to struggle with generating offense 5 on 4. Granted he is a very good defenseman and I'm singling out his weak spots more than anything else, but the offense you would lose from Yandle would be more than replaced by having Datsyuk as a #1 center. Additionally Datsyuk is a perennial Selke winner, and therefore extremely defensively responsible. In all honesty, there are very few people I would trade for Yandle, however with the emergence of Oliver Ekman-Larrson and the very high upsides of David Rundblad and Brandon Gormley, not to mention The high amount of depth Phoenix has on D this trade would actually make sense from a Coyotes perspective, if hopefully Datsyuk would be willing to resign (not likely - ownership fiasco/desire to return to Russia). I would love this trade, however there is no way Holland shops Pasha at the deadline even if the wings are out of playoff contention. (Also unlikely)

Done. Losing Flip doesn't bother me too much. Nyquist is much the same type of player IMO, and we have guys like Jurco on the way who'll be able to provide similar skills. Picking up Michalek gives us two LH-RH pairings on defense, with Kronwall-Michalek and Ericsson-White. Then we have Smith, Kindl, Quincey, Lashoff, and Huskins fighting for the 3rd pairing. (I'd roll with Smith and Kindl, press box KFQ and send down/waive Lashoff and Huskins).

That + the upside of Rundblad.

How do other Yotes fans feel about this deal? Filppula for Michalek, Rundblad?

That you think this is fair value is hilarious.

It's not even close to fair value. A seriously flawed 1/2 defenseman is worth one of the best centers in the league?

Datsyuk isn't even the best center on the Wings right now.

There's also one important factor everyone has forgotten:

Datsyuk has a no-trade clause. What are the chances he waives it to play in Phoenix?

If Datsyuk were traded for an offensive defenseman with a reputation for defensive ineptitude, a more likely deal would perhaps be Datsyuk and a 2nd to Washington for Mike Green and Nicklas Backstrom.

I like Yandle, but **** no.

Same reaction from a Phoenix perspective due to Datsyuk's salary/age.

I don't like the idea of giving up Rundblad in a package for a center who isn't under contract. So I probably wouldn't do it.

But for the heck of it anyway, how about Klesla instead of Michalek? I think Klesla is actually better than Z when he's healthy, and he's cheaper. Course the healthy part is a big caveat. But considering Filppula isn't under contract I think it's a fair compromise.

Wat? lol
Thats horrible for the wings. If i were the wings and was about to trade Datsyuk i would be inclined to go after Ekman-Larsson and work a deal around that.
