Really didn't want the Ravens to win, oh well glad we don't have to hear Lewis name anymore

He's going to work at ESPN as an analysis. So yes, we'll be hearing from him again.

What will be awesome is when they ask him to "imagine you're on the (insert team here) sidelines and want to get your team fired up, what would you say?"

Not sure where to ask... Just got tickets for the Pens/ Bolts game on the 24th. Is the Penguins Pond still open? Or does anyone know of an open hockey game I can get into or at least a place I can skate?

Pirates are reportedly in the final stages of signing Jonathan Sanchez... looks like a replacement for Liriano to me, although they could still sign both. Very similar in terms of high upside. Liriano is probably a bigger boom potential, and for that reason will cost more than what I assume Sanchez commands.

I remember the Pirates being rumored to want Jonathan Sanchez a few years ago when they moved Freddy Sanchez to the Giants but then Jonathan Sanchez started to show some flashes of big upside with a run of good games and a no hitter and became off limits. Interesting move if it happens.

PPG has a nice rink in town:

http://www.ppgplace.com/directory/the-rink/

When I was home for Christmas I saw a new rink coming across the West End bridge, that was apparently built by the Pens, my dad said. It looked really cool from up there.

Someone else living in the city may be able to tell you more about it.

Yeah, looks like it's going to happen on a minor league deal, which seems to indicate that it's not a replacement for Liriano, though who knows what's going on right now.

I'm fine with Sanchez on a minor league deal (as well as Liriano too). I'd bring them both in and hope for the best. While I think Sanchez's great season was a fluke, he did have a couple respectable ones other than that. Last year I'd write off as him being hurt.

Bring both on, let them compete for a spot in the rotation. I'm sure one of them will pitch well enough to be a starter, and we could use the other as a reliever.

Just like Reid Brignac. Read somewhere a few days ago that the Rays were potentially dropping him. He would've been a key to a Bay deal then, but TB just wouldn't give up what we wanted (supposedly). Wouldn't surprise me to se NH go after Brignac if he's let go either.

As a small market team, I have no issues signing guys like this. well, if the price is right, I don't. If they were a top prospect at once (or had a couple good seasons and fell), and you can offer them a chance in the majors on the cheap, go for it. Probably around 95% of the time it doesn't work, but sometimes you get a guy like Burnett who returns to form (we didn't sign him FA, but got some salary taken care of).

I believe that new rink in Station Square is opened on Riverhounds Field. Also have Schenley Park.

I was about to go on an anti-Sanchez rant, but he makes a lot of sense on a minor league deal.

Sanchez is sort of like Oliver Perez. Terrible control but has high K rate.

Thanks... yeah I think the Penguins Pond was over by Station Square this year. I usually go for coffee and some skating over by Market Square/ PPG but I was looking for more of an open game.

Has anyone ever gotten a Penguins Boards game together?

Not only is Pitt a tournament lock, but if they finish strong could be looking at a really nice seed. Maybe as high as a 3.

Thus making it all the more disappointing when they bomb out in the 2nd.

To be fair, University of the Pacific used to be next to the Pacific Ocean...but then it moved to ****ing Stockton a century ago.

When one thinks of a college named 'University of the Pacific' one probably thinks of the setting of Pepperdine (which is in Malibu)...not the crime ridden, bankrupt inland city of Stockton.

It's been awhile since I played back home. Maybe try the Island? I think it is owned by Robert Morris now. They used to have stick time on the outdoor rink, but I'm not sure about now.

That is probably the closest rink to downtown Pgh that you can find open stick time.

It's a little depressing being back home in Pgh when it comes to hockey. I'm so used to jumping on all of the free outdoor rinks up here in Ontario. There are literally a dozen of them around me where I can jump on and mess around or hit up a game whenever I want (not as easy since my daughter was born though).
