What was the deadline when they had to decide to forfeit the pick or not?
My guess is that they had some players they liked a lot and felt would be available around their draft position, so they decided not to forfeit the pick. Could hurt them in the long run but who knows
Shortly after the Cup was awarded.
I'm pretty sure Lou made a calculated decision that with the players he had under contract, his team was a surer bet to be competitive in the next few years than the mystery of 5-6 years from now. Thus, a 1st round pick at 29 who starts to play a year earlier is more valuable than a 1st round pick in the high teens or low 20s.. even if that player is marginally better.
I'm sorry, Devils fans. Let me go to the Devils practice right now and kneel down below the All-Mighty Kovy and Marty. Let me ask them to forgive me for not being in love with them and being a Rangers fan, talking Rangers hockey on a Rangers board. Am I doing this right?
Just don't expect the people here to be all peaches and cream about the Devils.
I just dont want this thread to turn into a warzone.
Never expected that and I don't even care about the potshots you guys constantly take at us. Just like I don't expect you to care about the potshots we take at you. But I hate posters who make it like they are 'better' fan bases than other fan bases when, in reality, both fan bases are doing the exact same thing. We're all human beings, no need to pretend the team you arbitrarily root for makes you inherently better.
And no, I'm not saying you are the only party guilty of that either.
Wasn't Bickel practicing as a defenseman? I'm sure it doesn't matter anyway since he'll only get three minutes anyway but it's odd they'd have him practice there knowing they'd send Mashinter down. Maybe Kreider is ready to come back into the lineup also.
