When it comes to Steigy, I remember him most for when he would work with Lange, and you could hear the utter disdain that Lange had for him. He couldn't stand working with him. I don't know that for fact, but that is the vibe seemed evident to me. As Lange would constantly put him down.

As for the Bibster, he is hilarious. I love his passion for the game. His delivery of his quirky statements is what really makes it funny to me. He gets so excited and just spews half interesting, half foolish comments.

Yah that was pathetic the way they were trashing him the other day. How many times do Penguins fans need to hear Kovachoo is "a collective -105 in his career" during a game? They said it at least 3x. Both unprofessional and irrelevant to what was going on, on the ice. Further proof both of these guys are incompetent. There's no need to pull that ****, and certainly not more than a single mention. Willing to bet they say it again before the season is over (mostly because they have nothing else to say but stupid, random **** like that).

When he's not being goofy I like a lot of what Errey adds to the game. He's really smart about how the game should be played. I actually like his sense of humor too.

"Head on a swivel..." is easily my favorite saying. So many good defensemen don't do it and Bibs seems to call all of them out for it.

Errey: "Michael Mole. There he is...looking through the mole hole!"
Steiggy: "That guy in front of him is Bruce Bennett, a longtime NHL photographer."
Errey: "He looks like Einstein!"

Said of Antero Niittymaki: "Niittymaki . . . sounds like sushi!"

I think that's my personal all-time favorite.

Nah, Lange was just drunk most of the time...

And my Fav Bibster moment was a few years ago when the pens and caps where playing and eric fleischman scores for the caps and he says JUST LIKE BUTTER.

I'd like to hear them address how the Devils managed to get into the Finals last year with Kovalchuk. When they acquired him all we were told was just how detrimental he is to any team that would trade for him.

I always liked Kovalchuk ever since he was a brash rookie, and I thought "the point" was hilarious. Make the rookie take some medicine, he was probably better for it.

"You can't just keep beating a horse, Steigy! Ya gotta pat it on the nose! Feed it some oats!"

That and the time where Kevin Stevens visited the booth and they completely ignored the game and talked about cheeseburgers for 10 minutes.

Edit: Thanks to In Rejean We Trust, I have the correct version of the quote, which might be even more ridiculous:

"You can't just, uh, beat the horse all the time, Steiggy. Sometimes you gotta give it a little bit of loving. Give it some good food. Some good oats and grain, and that's what Therrien was doing!"

In Letang's first year he described his skating as "Liquid Gel"

I love that. It is a perfect description of how he moves around the ice.

On a side note, I played in Fantasy Camp with him before it got expensive. He was an awesome representative of the Penguins. He was very personable and just sat around shooting the bull. He told us many insider stories.

Tonight Steigy said "can't wait to see the new studio" and Errey's response..."weeee!!"

He makes me chuckle, which is good.

1) When we vs. the Lightning, he will ALWAYS mention St. Louis' thick, tree-trunk legs
2) Jordan's long stick

Another one was when the Pens were playing the Flyers in, I think 07 and Errey kept repeating Lasse Kukkonen's name and giggling about it.

"Kukkonen...the Flyers wanted him...hehe...They were cuckoo for Kukkonen hehehehe!"

I grant you the guy makes some interesting comments about the game sometimes but see... he needs to do that MOST OF THE TIME to be considered good at what he does. Same with Steigerdunce. The guy occasionally produces an interesting factoid about a player or coach, but then 90% of teh time is a babbling, bumbling idiot who can't call a game to save his life.... yet people ignore the 90% and look at the 10.

This board is empirical proof that a substantial portion of Pittsburgher's like cheesy / corny announcers. Something about the lunchpail culture of the town or something. Never lived there so can't claim to understand it, but I certainly notice a pattern that's developed WRT to Steigy and Errey. I want you all to know... it's not your fault. No... I don't think you do understand... it's not your fault. It's not your fault...

For the love of God let Steigy and Errey leave your mind... you need to go see about a girl.
The fact that I've heard many Pittsburgher's praise the Pirates broadcasters certainly reinforces this theory. Ever since I was a kid in the mid-late 80s I've realized this which is why I eventually ended up becoming a fan of another major league team when I was younger.

I think it's the other way around, Errey says something goofy in a moment of spontaneity and Steigerwald spends the next 5 minutes trying to one up him while ignoring the game entirely.

The best is when the Pens are playing a road game that no one is going to watch like Atlanta or something, and Bibs decides this is the perfect time to just do the game drunk.

Head on a swivel is an extremely common hockey term, used in minor hockey, all the way up to the show.

So I wouldn't give Errey too much credit for that.

Head on a swivel is the most common term for a lot of sports. I heard it in football from the time I was 6 until I was done playing.

Seconded. People who cant appreciate Errey's obvious insanity are really missing out.

I'd pay big money for a Bob Errey-tripping balls feed.
