I'd take Cajanek. I think he s a really underrated player who is under the radar.

Salei off the list as well.

I agree on Cajanek, he has some nice offensive upside.

Did you see what Salei is getting? That's what you should be shaking your head at, no way is Salei worth that much.

Yeah, Daze by himself is worth at least 78-80 man-games lost to injury, not including playoffs.

I like Spacek and Witt; Rucinsky, Samsonov, and Grier; and Cajanek. And I don't think of signing Lindros.

Heres how I evaluate these guys, some of them anyway

Quote:
Radoslav Suchy
Jaroslav Spacek - underated puck mover, would be a bargain
Daniel Tjarnqvist
Danny Markov - wouldnt mind him, seems to play hard
Brendan Witt
Tom Poti - not a fan but isnt slow

Wingers:
Martin Rucinsky
Oleg Kvasha
Sergei Samsonov - he would be great, I've always wondered much like Afinogenov why he isnt a better player, kinda underachieves
Peter Bondra - why not, still has some speed, would def be a bargain
Mike Grier
Bill Guerin
Brendan Shanahan
Petr Sykora - I think he would be the best and most realistic idea, quick might be able to top 60 pts and wouldnt cost a lot
Anson Carter

Centers:
Jan Hrdina
Michael Peca - Would love to have him, but hes a center and would demand alot
Petr Cajanek
Viktor Kozlov
Eric Lindros
Jeff Halpern - young and can play

The day lindros signs with the Philadelphia Flyers under Bob Clarke again is the day that a philadelphia sports team will win a proffesional sports championship....

in other words, never going to happen.

Lion: No way. Too much history there. I don't think you'll see a Sonny & Cher type reunion on Letterman. I liked Lindros when he was with the Flyers but there was too much hostility to bury.

Ghost: I am only a fan of one Philly team. I am not trying to patronize but at some point you will see a title, not sure when or who but it will happen.

The Patriots, Buccaneers, Angels, White Sox and Red Sox among other teams thought the same way and won in the last few years

Wtih Denis Gauthier on the team, there isn't much of a need for Witt, even though Witt is a better player overall, he isn't all too great with coverage

I can't believe Arnott got 4.5 for 5 years. How can we pay Gagne less?

There are some not bad names on that winger list, but the defenseman list when real thin real fast

I cant see the Flyers signing any of the remaing D, Markov maybe but there was probably a reason as to why he was dumped to Nashville for a 3rd rounder instead of Desjardins for example.

No centers are needed as long as Primeau comes back.

There are some wingers out there like Samsonov, Shanahan (too expensive) and Sykora (Sykora + Hitch )
Dunno maybe check what Bondra wants or maybe Nolan depending on his condition.

Players I wouldn't mind seeing from LOTN's list:
PS. my thanks to LOTN for compiling the list

CENTERS
Jeremy Roenick (He'd be a good cheap (yet old) player for the team for one year)
Jeff Halpern (Good defensive presence)
Petr Cajanek (underrated player who'd help out)
Greg Johnson (solid all around player, and former Flyers draft pick to boot!)
Yanic Perreault (Great on faceoffs...maybe a good #4 center)

WINGERS
Petr Sykora (I think this would be a great pick up.)
Sergei Samsonov (Definitely intested, his speed and scoring would be welcome)
Anson Carter (Not a bad possibility)
Mark Recchi (I'd take him back for a 1 or 2 year 1.5 million dollar contract)
Radek Dvorak (He'd be a good third line winger)
Jeff Friesen (Great second line winger, number 1 on my wish list)
Petr Bondra (Sure, he's still got some juice left in him. I'd take him.)

DEFENSE
Jaroslav Spacek (Serviceable d-man)
Danny Markov (Great to have back. Solid player)
Brian Leetch (I'd take him, like Recchi or Roenick, on a short term low paying contract. His experience would be great, but his injuries as of late would be the same old same old in this lineup.)

Can anyone give me a well-rounded scoop on Jeff Friesen? He seems like a player who could excel in this new NHL. What is his downside, since no one has signed him yet?

His downside is that he was awful last season

Do you think it was just a bad season or indicative of his ability to play in "the new nhl"? I didn't see him play once last year, so I really don't know. All I know is that before last year, he was good for 20-30 goals a year.

He's been on and off his entire carreer. His last season with the Devils, I'm pretty sure Devil fans thought he sucked too.

TSN mentions the Leafs and Kings, and one or two others, bidding for A. Carter.

Today's Philadelphia Inquirer makes it sound like Anson Carter will not be with the Flyers. No big loss, IMHO.

Because then we would have about 16 fewer GA next season.
