Osuna on the other hand has a slider in his arsenal already, it's just a matter of learning to use it effectively.
I understand that but it really seems like he dropped off pretty sharply in the rankings. That would make me assume they don't have confidence in his ability to develop that third pitch and he may end up relegated to the bullpen. I just thinks it's a little too early to count out an ability for him to develop it but I think this year will be very important in that aspect. Maybe that's why AA was willing to move him. Sell high on him if they've lost that faith as well. I guess time will tell now.

You've gotta think most pundits, like Law, side with AA, Tinnish and co. in that Sanchez had to be the best of the "lansing 3".

I'm excited to hear more about Osuna. I don't think i've even seen a clip of him pitching.
Law has been extremely high on Sanchez for a while, even last year when some were down on him and placing him outside the top 100. Its justified too because Sanchez stuff is top notch.

I think Sanchez is the best out of the lansing bunch and yeah, it wouldn't surprise me if he was their untouchable over all the prospects simply because he has ace stuff. TDA is great too but at least there was JPA in his position who is servicable. Doesn't help he has been injury prone so far in his minor league career.

An optimistic view would be that every one of our prospects we dealt had some major development issues that might be red flags for the future.

D'Arnaud has not been able to stay healthy, already at 24 he has not yet established himself in the majors and there are legitimate concerns whether or not he will be able to handle the reps behind the plate.

Syndergaard as mentioned in the article has not developed a 3rd pitch in 2 years of pro ball and it is reasonable to think that he ends up as a reliever.

Nicolino doesn't have great stuff and has been one of the older prospects of low A-Ball which might explain his dominance.

Marisnick has bat issues and might not become anything more then a speed and defence outfielder without a major league bat.

Hechevarria same issue as Marisnick.

Having said that, almost all prospects have warts and if a few turn around and develop further it would be more painful from a futures standpoint.

I'm pretty sure that the rotation is set other than morrow Johnson fighting for 2 vs 4.

1. Dickey
2. JJ/Morrow
3. Buerhle
4. JJ/Morrow
5. Romero

He said "that's Gibbons order"

I'm almost certain that means Gibbons stated that is how the rotation will play out.

He did.

Two things Gibbons said today:

Rotation: Dickey, Morrow, Buehrle, Johnson, Romero

Order: Reyes, Cabrera, Bautista, Encarnacion, Lawrie

He said this all with the disclaimer of "as of now"... certainly nothing is set in stone... but if things progress as planned this is what we can expect.

I love that rotation. Knuckleball fun to open it up, followed by heat to have you chasing and then lefty finesse the corners to leave you guessing, back up to the heat to screw your timing and then switching up your reads with a lefty to finish.

There is sense to the madness.

As soon as I read this, I thought "Thank god we have a coach who will actually make decisions based on numbers and actual performance". No more Corderos blowing games, because if you don't perform with Gibby, you get a lesser role.

He's got the Knuckle-Power-Lefty-Power-Lefty combo that was being clamoured for. He's got the top 5 in arguably the best order (and is willing to re-visit if it isn't). He's giving Lind his shot, but will monitor his v Lefties (and platoon him if necessary). He's starting Janssen at closer because of last year.

There's nothing like the GM making the right moves to help the team, then the coach showing that he understands the way the team needs to be coached in terms of personnel.

I don't know much about MLB, but would it be safe to say this could be the best 4th and 5th starters in the bigs?

And damn, what i would give to have Aaron Hill back now.

2nd is the only fielding position i look at and feel wanting.

How does our Mid relief and bench stack up around the bigs?

Our 2nd baseman as of right now is Izturis. As a 2nd baseman, he had a better UZR. He is a fast guy who gets to a lot of balls and is good at fielding. On offense, he is a guy who relies on OBP + speed. Essentially, we're gonna run like mad this year. He, Boni, and Reyes are all capable of 40+ steals.
