Yakupov has won the Oilers some games.

Again, just my opinion.
So Rinne and Weber don't count nowdays?

I don't have a problem with someone favoring Yakupov more, he's obviously going to be great, but I'm puzzled by this reasoning above.

Both Tarasenko and Yakupov have 1 game winning goal. Yak on 1/30/13 against Phoenix. Vova on 1/19/13 against Detroit.

Yak has scored against: Coloradox2, Phoenix, San Jose, Los Angeles
Vova has scored against: Detroitx2, Nashvillex2, Columbus.

Of the seven teams listed above that have been scored on by either Yak or Vova, who do you have in the playoffs?

I personally think Detroit/Nashville/San Jose/Los Angeles make of those 7 which would mean 4 of Tarasenko's goals are against playoff competition where only 2 of Yakupov's are.

If you are saying Detroit/Nashville will miss, I guess I understand your view a little better and just disagree.

I don't think nashville, detroit or columbus will make the playoffs. (Just my opinion.)

That's not really being fair to his teammates that put him in the situation to get a GWG. I wouldn't say Tarasenko won the home opener for the Blues.

Tarasenko showing why it's good most of the time to develop in Europe if you are a euro player.

Let them grow in euro then come over.

I expected Tarasenko to be good (so I drafted him in my fantasy league), but Conacher came out of nowhere for me. I barely heard anything about him in the pre-season prediction threads. I think Granlund will heat up, and I expect Schultz to continue making noise this year. Yakupov looks really good too.

I'm pretty sure the 4th best rookie this season would have won in a lot of the previous seasons.

Would have given it to Conacher even with the offensive advantage he has. Maybe I'm just a sucker for a good story though...

Galchenyuk - i like his effort

For D:
Schultz - it's actually his d-play that impresses me the most
Hamilton - He's looking really good, albeit he's behind a pretty good D core
Brodin - Only watched him once, didn't notice him so well, but from what the wild are saying about him, he's making suter look better than he's been.
I didn't want to get into a Yak-Vlad discussion since I'm obviously a bit biased but saying Vlad isn't consistant is garbage. he was not on the scoresheet for only one game, you couldn't ask for more consistancy IMO...especially if you add the fact that he wasn't used to the NA ice, too

I agree. even if you take out the calder finalists it still would be a good rookie class this year

Curious what made you think so. How long have you been watching Tarasenko?

i must say, as an oilers fan, as much as i'm impressed with yakupov, im really impressed with schultz. Not only has his offense been good for a rookie D, his defense has been amazing. He has really stepped up as a top defenseman on the team and has been generally really calm under pressure.

to add to this, he is just coming off a game playing 27:49, (most ice time for either the oilers or canucks skaters yesterday)

He's been quite dependable, which I think is amazing for a rookie D being asked of so much.

If only Galchy and Gallagher had more than 12 TOI and weren't on a 3rd line.

Oh well
