I'd like to waive Reasoner and send Cizikas down when the times comes. I want Casey getting more ice for the rest of this season. I'd like to hold a 7th (even 8th) defender for just a little bit longer if we can. We'll need to hold 23 guys and some will have to watch the game from the press box.

Assuming Joensuu and Bailey are definitely worked back into the lineup, then I'd try something like this:

Grabner/Ullstrom-JT-KO
Moulson-Nielsen-Boyes
Ullstrom/Grabner-Bailey-Martin
Joensuu-Aucoin-McDonald
Boulton

Hamonic, Streit, Vis, AMac, Strait, Carkner, Hickey, Finley

Nabby/DiPi

That's 23. It's temporary. Let the pieces fall over a few games. Minor trade, rotate, or re-waive. Martinek will have to really earn his keep when/if healthy. I really don't mind the depth. I still wish we had more size in the top-4 and top-6, but that wish seems to never get answered.

We're begging for size down the middle, but this makes better use of our speed for 5-on-5 play. Let's face it, that's pretty much the only thing that makes us scary at all on 5-on-5. We're much better at getting to pucks first than we are at getting them back. I think we should face that reality for now and actually embrace it for the shortened season. The bigger kids are still a bit away from getting up here. The Brooklyn dollars aren't flowing yet. Let's try to play to our strengths for now. Team speed and some skill is pretty much we have. It's the only way we'll compete with larger teams at all. JT needs to have that element on his line somewhere. Get him at least one player that opens up the ****ing ice - the kid does wonders with a little bit of open ice. Let's not put him in the position where he thinks he needs to beat three guys by himself. He's good, but this is the NHL and even if you occasionally can pull it off, it's rarely a good risk to take.

Why are we waiving Reasoner. Furthermore, if Reasoner and Cizikas leaves who centers the second pk unit?

Our pk has given up two goals this year. Cappy has used only 4 forwards full time on the pk. Reasoner is part of that group/ In today's NHL your fourth line center needs to do something, that something can be a pk specialist which Reasoner essentially is.

I'm not afraid of Aucoin in that role, especially with Martin as his winger for dislodging players from the puck. Aucoin can win faceoffs and hasn' been a soft player even though he lacks size. The thing that scares me with the 2nd PK unit is its sluggishness as a unit. Not to mention, Bailey is back in the scenario we're talking about, so there's another center except Bailey hasn't shown he can win a draw. Reasoner is also now -5 through nine games; he's just sluggish out there and on his way to another seriously negative season (in more ways than one.)
