I'm going with Marian Stastny. He was a superstar in the domestic league, came to North America at an advanced age, and put up 168 points in 134 games over his first 2 NHL seasons

I applaud your choice, and am kind of surprised that all of Palffy, Demitra, and Bondra (and possibly Satan, by the end of it) passed him in the polls, honestly. "Conventional wisdom" might have put Anton above Marian, but it could be argued that's just more lazy NHL point counting, like I complained about in the Finnish polls. It does seem interesting to me that Peter and Marian are in the Czechoslovakian HHoF, while Anton apparently isn't.

Speaking of HoFs, it should be interesting to see where someone like Golonka ends up. I think he's the only Slovak besides Dzurilla to make the IIHF HoF so far, but played well before the possibility of an NHL career.

TBH, I'm unsure if Stastny even has a strong case over Golonka, Lukac and Liba. Who are, incidentally, probably gonna be my next three votes.

I am surprised to see Satan leading a poll this early. Sure, he is probably the most accomplished Slovak player in the national team, but I would not put him so high. In the NHL he was never on the level of a guy like Gaborik and I would put M. and A. Stastny ahead of him as well. Then there is Golonka - it is hard to compare players from different generations, playing in different leagues - but how can a guy that was best of his generation be ranked behind a guy that is like 6th or 7th in his?
