Pretty much the same here. I gave him consideration earlier on. But now I wouldn't draft him before the third.

Oh, Rychel... Close to no-draft as far as im concerned.

All interesting players. The nice things about this year's draft is that there is another 10-15 interesting players that should be available in the 2nd round. Bowey, Dauphin, Petan (who should be a top-15 pick IMO), Jarry (could be the best goalie of this draft when all is said and done), Mueller, De La Rose, Dano are all good examples.

I wouldn't have any problems taking Duclair if we have a late first round pick and would be delighted to get him in the 2nd round. He's such a dynamic player and will only get better as he gains in size and strength.

If we freeze the standings as of today the Habs get to pick at

25
31 (Calgary)
46 (Nashville)
55

so how about these picks

25 Duclair or Hagg
31 Dauphin
46 Jordan Subban
55 Sam Morin

Clearly not optimal to me.

Duclair and Subban are not worth it imo, for what we have.

Of all people, I never thought you would be one to advocate picking Duclair (even in the second round).

With the same pick, here's my choice. (I know that I just defend Duclair but I don't want to let Petan go)

25 Mantha
31 Petan
46 Carrier
55 Morin
85 Cammarata

I doubt very much Mantha is there at 25.

There will be fallers for sure.
There's too much quality in this draft for us to no get a quality player just make a top 30 yourself and you'll see that if Mantha is not there at 25 he'll be HELLA close.

Yeah, it should be like 2003 where a lot of good players will still be there at 20-30. Burns Kesler Richards Perry and Belle.

I'll take a stab at it. 25-Valentin Zykov-It's Feb.got to have your Valentine 31-Laurent Dauphin-It's Feb.and he's going to be in the 1st round soon. 46-William Carrier-It's Feb.and he's coming back from injury and going to climb again. 55-Sam Morin-Giving the Habs the NHL answer to the NBA's Twin Towers 85-Sam Henley / Tyler Hill-these two could be great wingers for Joonas Naatinen on the Habs 4th line in a few years.

I'll take a stab at him if he falls to us in the 2nd round. I don't think he's a 1st round talent by any stretch, especially in 2013. However, he has some nice tools and if he bulks up he could be equivalent to the good Chris Higgins.

Too high for Dickinson in a strong draft.

I loved what I saw from Dauphin in the Cherry-Orr game, and the times I've been watching him play in the Q. I just don't see the upside in Jordan Subban. He would need an absolutely spectacular progression, like his brother had from age 18 to 20. Another guy I liked at the prospects game was big D Zadorov, though he might be taken rather early.

That being said, isn't it this year NJ has to surrender their 1st round pick because of the Kovalchuk debacle? Always surprised me why they didn't surrender last year's pick, as it was only the 29th.

I have no idea about any of these prospects. I wouldn't mind if they take a bit of a risk with the 1st round pick. A boom or bust type pick if there's one available, that is unless there's an awesome safe one.

I think we have the development team in place that can take a chance on someone who might have a weakness or two but can have a potentially high ceiling. Preferably a forward. Is there any prospect that might fit this bill?

I don't think Duclair will get much taller, but he's still very small, he can fill that frame a plenty. He is very skilled, and I thought his passing game has been better this year. He's a goal scorer first, that's for sure.

Subban could be available in the 3rd IMO. I'd go with guys like Sorensen, Bowey, Comrie, Carrier or Nastasiuk at #46.

I love the Morin pick. Another guy I'd like at around #25 is Hartman, if he's there, just get him.

Duclair could fill that bill, he needs to add work ethic to his game/training. If he develops properly, he'll be a star in the NHL. Another guy that could be scary if he develops well is De La Rose. HUGE frame, good skater, good hockey sense.

I love the guy... But hey... Let's slow it down here.
I sure don't like how he avoids the goal crease and how little effort he puts on his backcheck. Smells like a trap. Definitely not a franchise player in my mind.

I'd take a gamble on Duclair in the 2nd round...he's definitely not a first and it depends who drops of course, but he's worth listing.

DLR is just not good enough offensively imo just not creative enough. He can keep up with Forsberg but I just don't see 1st round quality with him. 2nd round: yes.

Duclair would be a 1st round pick 9 years out of 10, if he falls out of the 1st it's not because he is a bad player it's because it's a VERY deep draft like 2003. He has awesome speed and hands but hasn't had much to play with in the last month.

It's been a struggle for the Remparts mostly because they suck a center, Shaw is a winger, Grigorenko is riding the bench in Buffalo, Etchegary is hurt. Vetter is their top center right now.

He is the same size as MacKinnon or close. He is pretty strong on his skates, should play NHL at 6' 195-200lbs.
