Regehr because we need a legit defensive defenseman.

Weiss for reasons I've detailed in another thread (lineup thread maybe?).

Leopold I hope they don't go near him. He's a B version of Quincey with better speed. Yes... a B version of KYLE QUINCEY.

Teams scout other teams ALL the time, no real news here.

There was reportedly something like 17 other teams there. So yeah something is up one team must have made it known one of their better players is on the market.

Slow day is probably a part of this. But for that many teams to be there it does make you think one of the GMs has at least put out that he is looking to make a move. Could be Tatar is up for a showcasing as well, just a thought.

Per George Richards twitter, the guy who covers the Panthers for the Miami Herald.

Quote:

Scouts at #FlaPanthers #Sabres: Chi, Edm, Phil, Col, Mont, #tbLightning, #nhlJets, Pitt, Det, Nash, SJ, Cbs, Phx, Ott, NYR, Ana, LAK, Tor

With no games on the docket it is odd for that many people to show up even on a slow day out of conference. I would expect the Panthers to shop Weiss if they cannot come to contractual terms with him soon.

I would assume they are targeting D, but they could pull a double swoop after one of their D-man and a Stafford. The Sabres will likely demand Sheahan as one of the prospects, they have the same smoke we do on Stafford at every turn on Riley.

Why would they want Sheahan when they already have 3 great young centers? I'd think they would want some wingers/defenseman prospects.

They were publically bummed out when we selected Sheahan and I have read about that several times. Adam's development has stalled and they have real problems. I think if we were willing to part with Riley, Stafford would already be in a winged wheel from this time last year. Cannot imagine Holland is high on the idea of trading him. Another name to keep in mind is Pulkkinen. I don't care if they ship him, but he has tremendous chemisty with Armia whenever they have played together in the Finland setup. Remember hearing both those names when we talked Gaustad, but the Wings were trying to move picks and not the crazy value Nashville gave.

I actually think what this points to is that the Panthers have hit a snag in negotiations with Weiss. Who is a very nice player and I am not sure what the return would be. The Sabres spent a lot of time getting bigger, Tatar has some sand, but would be surprised if that is who they are circling.

Grigorenko's placement and their draft hall could have changed that making the Wings more interested. But when an organization develops a man crush they might just be looking at shifting someone out to wing. Hope he isn't out there for either offer, although if the Wings move on Weiss and extend him that changes our organizational charts in a big way.

I would move Andersson in just about any package right now as he looks to have no place in the future of the organization, that is just me though.

Ryan Whitney a healthy scratch in Edmonton, Mike Weaver reportedly MIA at Panthers practice this morning, might be two d-man are about to move... Tallon called it a maintenance day, but some smoke around the Panthers over the last 24 hours.

Gudbranson is a game-time decision and is looking about ready to get back. Florida will have to move somebody soon.

Buffalo - obviously, Leino and Matt Ellis for Tatar and a first

Less Obvious: Howard + Cleary for Miller.

Florida: Obviously Kopecky, Fleischmann, Matthias and, to a lesser extent., Jovocop

Hawks are channeling their inner Wings and getting destroyed by the Sharks.

Now the Sharks are channeling their inner Sharks and choking.

Why would Buffalo trade their franchise goalie for two UFAs?

Miller's only got one more year left on his deal, and Howard would certainly be agreeable to signing an extension to play at home in Buffalo.

I don't think they'd be interested, but it's not the craziest thing I've ever heard. Well ok, the part about anybody being interested in Cleary, THAT'S the craziest thing I've ever heard...but some kind of Miller-Howard+ swap wouldn't be totally insane.

Won't happen, though.

Another blown call where the Sharks get a five minute that wasn't a major. Unlike Backes who still deserved the a two minute charging penalty, this one was completely clean. Keith got 4 minutes for instigating with his visor on to respond so the Hawks will only get a minute at the end of it. But really a bad call.

Miller's a Michigan boy and Howard's a New York boy. That's the main reason.

Loktionov to Jersey for a 5th.

I wish we'd got him at that price

That's a steal for NJ, but I really think there was/is no need for Loktionov in Detroit.
