Tom Poti rumour...

I read on CHfans...Someone claims Bob McKenzie said the Habs are close to a deal for Tom Poti...4 years $15 million...

I highly, highly doubt it. Anyone watching TSN that can confirm?

I Confirm, Tom Poti in Montreal is a 75-80% chance.

Big guy, very physical, good for 30-40 points with maybe 10 goals...Can QB the PP if needed...But has those dreaded brain cramps. He was once an allstar so he's got the potential to play well, and he's only 29.

If true, thats not a bad deal.... The guy is pretty good. If the rumour is true, guess some other D is heading out in a trade.

Is this the long-awaited amalgamation of Ecklund and wildone26?

I am tuned to TSN, but it's tennis.

yeah, I read that on CHfans. If Poti does ever land with the Habs, it more than confirms Souray is likely gone.
I don't know, but I don't see Poti as an upgrade over Souray

Worst signing ever if it happens......Poti is Breezer #2, bonehead mistakes after another, just visit the Rangers board once in a while....

that'd be funny..people (most people) would go from being pissed Bob didnt sign a UFA to calmly realizing that it might be best for the team considering the fat contracts the players are getting to pure hatred for Bob for signing a Homeless man's Patrice Brisebois

This needs to happen

He showed potential early in his career that he would develop into an offensive threat from the blueline but he needed to work on his defensive play. His defensive play has improved a little but it's still nothing to write home about. His offensive output has gone dodo.

Most people were pissed not getting a potential GREAT UFA. I don't think people are expecting to sign Chouinard or Traverse just because they are UFA'S.....

Same thing applies for Poti, please let's hope it's not true.....The guy will be booed to death before Christmas.....

To clarify, when I said it would be a nightmare, it's not that I totally hate Poti.

But IMO that is WAY too much money for him, and unless there's a trade coming, I think I like all of our 6 D more than Tom.

which side does he play? If we do sign him, that would give us an Idea of who's about to leave.

ASSETS: Presents a tremendous physical package with a very heavy shot

So basically another Sheldon Souray... Habs already have one, so no thanks...

I would like Poti in here because if he comes, it probably means Souray's on the way out...

And with all the rumors we hear involving Souray, there's a good chance that signing/trade occurs...

Like?

Elias?
didnt want to leave NJ and used us to get a better contract

Arnott?
5 years at over 4 millions for a guy that had his best season in like forever because he was a UFA to be?

Chara?
I admit this would've been fun having the ugliest guy alive on the team but that is crazy money

I dunno..I think Bo tried to get invloved in some of the UFA talks..but the lenght of the contracts just scared the hell out of him
