Then he should step up his game to justify it. Right now he is not worth +3 millions.

Not necessarily straight up, but I'd imagine the Rangers would be interested in a guy like that if they were to deal Boyle to Vancouver.
It's worth considering, although I doubt Hansen is ever moved. He plays a huge role in our bottom six. Between his work ethic and consistency, I'd be hard pressed to trade him.

FLA: 1st in '13 (pick 7-14) + Shore/Goc + Howden

the pick would be assuming mackinnon, jones, drouin, barkov, monahan, and lindholm are all selected. would that be anywhere near close? throw in a 2nd in '14 too if needed. would love to have gaborik.
I would think that Bjugstad would be part of the deal.

Bjugstad, 1st in 2013 and I would take Ellerby. Could be a solid 3rd pairing defenceman

Wonder who the Rangers need more - Nuge or Yak?

I mean, one of them is going to be ours if that offer sheet comes up, and it's not like the Rangers are hurting for cash in any way (capwise or actually) come 2014 and 2015.

And just like Dubi, Callahan, MDZ before him, he will get his bridge contract, or he will miss some significant NHL experience and growth as a hockey player.

I can see Stepan wanting more than 2.5 per.

Crap. I want more than 2.5 per.

neither are going to happen though.

Fans always say that but teams rarely do it in revenge. It's a good way to find what fans really think their player is worth though.

Stepan needs to his game in gear if he wants more than $2.5M per. Stepan has zero leverage. He is not arbitration eligible until 2014. St.Louis gave Perron and Berglund $2.15M/$2.25M respectively in their 2 year bridge contracts.

Callahan was arbitration eligible in 2009 when he signed his 2 year contract. He got more than Dubinsky who has not arbitration eligible in 2009.

McDonagh will file for salary arbitration on July 5.

While you're not wrong, Sather is a spiteful ass of a man.

Teams are willing to pay a premium to improve their line-up. They always have been, and they always will.

Gaborik's one of the best scorers in the league. If Sather was shopping him, there would be numerous buyers lining up. This isn't even debatable.

Again, if Gaustad, who's nothing more than a 4th line Center, can fetch a 1st round draft pick, why wouldn't there be a market for Gaborik? Why didn't Nashville just, wait?

Additionally, only 1 team in the league is going to sign Marian when he hits free agency again. Who's to say that Team A or Team B signs him?

Why was there a market for Hossa and Kovalchuk? Why didn't teams just wait? . . .

Like I said, you're better than that. C'mon....
Your point is extremely valid. But Gaustad is more than a 4th line center. He's a 3rd line center with great size and shutdown abilities. He has value. Gaborik has more of course, but Gaustad is hardly the same as Smithson or something.

I really hope the Ducks or Sabres offer sheet all of the Oilers youngsters as they come up. One dollar below the 4 1st round pick level.
