The Buffalo Sabres are among the teams trying to make a trade to help push their way up the standings after starting the season 3-5-1.
The Sabres, currently sitting 11th in the Eastern Conference, haven't had trouble scoring, but they rank 28th in the NHL in goals-against per game, averaging 3.67.
Sabres GM Darcy Regier is looking to acquire help at both ends of the ice.
It's believed Regier is in the market for a gritty, defensive-minded forward, who can play on the club's second or third line, and a shutdown defenseman.
Scouts from 18 different teams took in Buffalo's 4-3 home loss to the Panthers yesterday, and while several clubs were keeping an eye on Florida, many were there to scout the Sabres.
Among the teams in attendance, the Philadelphia Flyers, New York Rangers, Los Angeles Kings, Ottawa Senators and Detroit Red Wings are also actively looking to make moves, while the Phoenix Coyotes, Winnipeg Jets and Nashville Predators have pieced they've been dangling.
It's unclear if Regier is close to any move, though trade talks around the NHL have picked up following the first two weeks of the season.

I never understand the "x scouts at the game" quotes, especially with the Sabres.
Not like they're located near Southern Ontario or anything, the most populous part of a country that breathes hockey and where I'd assume most scouts live..
