He can't protect the gallys enough to be able to play with them though they'd be left out to dry

How would they be left out to dry? They usually get favorable offensive zone matchups anyways.

Cause would you take a run at them if you knew prust was out there ready to mangle your face? But would you be as concerned about running at one of them if eller was the one on there line?

Prust and Moen are still on the team, just because they aren't right there on the ice doesn't mean teams will run at our young players with no fear of payback.

A good enforcer doesn't have to be on the ice at all times to protect his teammates.

You have a valid point there.

It's certainly nice to see the Habs playing Boston for the lead in the Northeast. That usually opens the eyes of GM's all over the league looking to trade for the players that aren't getting icetime, let's wait and hope MB shines in this situation. Many are the GM's that have been hasty and traded away their quality depth only to have no replacement when injuries come. While it's nice to think about getting young stars out of the draft, they aren't ready for the NHL for a couple of years.Eller is just starting to become a well rounded player and has tons of upside IMHO.

You may not "think" Eller is being pushed to be more intense, but those are the words coming out of the coach's mouth so I'll take that as a pretty good source. I also don't buy the "not being a fan" conspiracy. I bet you anything that if Eller shows more intensity, Therrien will "like him".

I don't know how much to get to watch the Oilers but I saw MPS play several times here in the west and intensity and him don't go hand in hand. I think my socks in the hamper have more intensity than him!

Win, for starters.
Then, hope they don't resign before the off season.
Finally, throw a big bag o' money at them.

But the whole idea becomes a moot point when we consider we won't likely have cap space for 1 of them let alone both..

Joking aside, it would take some smooth talking on Bergevin's part if, of course, either of them does make it to UFA.

First step, get Gomez. No player can resist, they all want to play with him.

Clowe could be had for a second pick and maybe a below average prospect. He has been awful thus far, and frankly, would not get it done offensively. Might be worth looking into around the deadline, as we could buy low. A change of scenery might help him.

A lot of people on this board take things too seriously.

We are fans, not GMs.

if we get rid of kaberle like everyone believes we will, we`ll have nearly 15 million in cap space and 3 or 4 roster spots to fill...i don;t see why we can`t take a run at getzlaf or perry..resign desharnais and get white and another bottom six forward back...call up tinordi and go deep into the playoffs. giontas contract will be up in time to give subban his money, and cole will probabley be traded for assets by then so i think we`ll have lots of space. i can see both of them being a stretch unless we`re really planning on dropping pleks. but one of them seems logical for the 3rd richest team in hockey

I think that to get perry or getzlaf we just need to offer the most money.
