You must work for ESPN.

QBs are very important in the NFL. They are not as important as the media would have you believe. You don't NEED an elite QB to win a Superbowl, you just need a competent one, or at the very least, one who won't make a lot of mistakes. You can win with a Game Managed QB *IF* you have a strong enough team around you.

I'll still argue that Eli Manning is barely an above average QB. He's won two superbowls, sure. But his talent alone is just above average. He turns the ball over a lot, and isn't really accurate at times. But he has some sickly talented WRs and TEs over the years, great O-Line play, and oh, btw, a solid defense on those Super Bowl teams.

Football is one of the ultimate team sports. It takes more than one player to win a championship. It's true a horrible QB can sink a teams chances, but an average QB can take you far if you have enough other strengths to overcome it.

Regarding Flacco, I think he's above average. I agree trading him would never happen. But wow, they could get a haul for the guy and come out smelling like a rose at the end if they did. One reason I'd do it? Because I have one of the best GMs in the business making those draft picks and free agent pick-ups. Ozzy Newsome has a GREAT track record at drafting talent, why not turn him loose and keep that team young and relevant.

THIS is the reality of the situation, and why I was adamant that it would never happen. It would be a PR nightmare at the very least, and understandably so. That being said, I stand by the fact that it could very well make the team better if they did make a move. If they continue deep playoff runs, the fans would get over it. But yes, there would be immediate outrage and backlash, and ownership knows this. Won't happen for the reason you stated alone.

Eli Manning had a bad season this year and the Giants didn't make the playoffs. He had a really good season last year and they won the Supwerbowl.

Those aren't the only two factors in the Giants winning and losing seasons, however. But that sort of statement is EXACTLY what you get when you go on ESPN. They toss out one stat like that in a vacuum and make it sound like its the only reason, when its not.

In fact, let's look at Eli's numbers this season from his superbowl season the year before:

Comp %
2011: 61%
2012: 59.9%

Yards
2011: 4933
2012: 3948

Yards/Att
2011: 8.38
2012: 7.37

TD
2011: 29
2012: 26

Turnovers
2011: 22 (16 INT 6 FUM)
2012: 19 (15 INT 4 FUM)

The only category that is markedly different is Yards per Attempt (which is why yards was different as well). A lot of that is attributed not to the QB, but to a combination of play calling and play making. In 2012 Eli didn't have Victor Cruz taking the world by storm and breaking several plays for 80+ yards and a TD.

From where I sit, he wasn't much different this year from last year, and in some areas he was worse in his Superbowl year. I doubt Eli had much of an impact/difference between the two seasons. There are 52 other people on the team, however, who had varying degrees of success (or lack thereof) between the two that probably had a bigger impact on those outcomes.

Really? The 1000 yards didn't make a difference?

No.

How many yards does Matt Stafford throw and Detroit just can't get it done? Raw yardage is a poor measuring stick. Additionally, the extra 1000 yards is a function of two things:

1) More pass attempts in 2011 than 2012
2) 1 full yard per attempt more in 2011 than 2012

As stated above, the YPA has a lot to do with Victor Cruz's breakout and he had some really monster games in 2011. (Cruz averaged 18.7 yds and had 1536 yds total in 2011...dropped to 12.7 and 1092yds in 2012....teams got the memo on him)

But yardage by itself isn't just a matter of how good a QB is. Especially in the context of Eli which I was using. It's usually the end result of other factors.

What I find funniest is that the Giants averaged a touchdown against less defensively per game over 2011 and scored nearly 3 points more per game than .

Flaccos contract? Will end up overpaid but he just won them a SB. I'd take that too

Jay Cutler is the 4th most hated Athlete in America... all because he has a pouty face and doesn't suck up to the media.

And yes, that means he is hated more than Big Ben according to this poll/survey. Also hated more than Vick.

Vick, Ben.... people have short term memories so it makes sense. Cutler made his bed.

It's all about what you see. People didn't see Vick kill dogs or Ben... um... in a bathroom, so it's easier for the public to forgive.

For millions of football fans though, Cutler's still the guy that quit in the NFC title game (as stupid of an opinion as that obviously is) and is the guy that the media always turns their cameras to in order to show him pouting. Not at all surprised that Cutler's very disliked as a result, especially given how often his raw talents are usually brought up by commentators, only for his teams to habitually do nothing.

Another reason why you really should never stop on a highway unless your car literally breaks down. Far too many people get killed like this. Sad story.

Another reason not to text/look at your phone while driving either. Think about the times you looked at your phone or your radio or whatever and drifted into the emergency lane. Going 70 MPH, if a car is there, you're in a world of pain. And I see a lot more cars on the side of the road than I used to. I don't think it is a coincidence either. I have friends that are mechanics. Some people just aren't getting their cars fixed as much or maintaining them the way they should because money is tight.

My dad is in the auto repair business and would certainly attest to that.

I've got at least one friend that takes the driver's phone and throws it randomly toward the back of the car if the driver reads or sends a text.

I never text while driving. It's so ignorant. There is no text important enough that's worth putting anyone else or I in danger. Hey, sending "lol" is worth it to some people.

Those AT&T commercials with the people with dain bramage need to be played all the time. Some people just don't understand the significance of it.

Related to that, I can't stand when people complain about ticket price increases. They sell out every ****ing game and there's thousands of people that will gladly pay the extra ten dollars to take your seat.
