Oh when you practically had a monopoly of any young players coming out of the entire province on Quebec and there were 6 teams?

Good times.

It's grotesque, stop catering to them - they're the enemy because they act like it. Leafs fans don't do this ****, only Boston.

Still people post this? Actually I like it when people use this insult, shows how much they are lacking in their hockey knowledge, and to not take them seriously.

Read history before posting. You are right that Habs had the selection of French players only because get this>> No one wanted those lazy French guys Teams around the league went out of their way to stay away from them until they saw Montreal win multiple cups with guys that no one else wanted.

They tried to trade rocket Richard but no one wanted such a weak little Quebec player One of the greatest playoff heroes of all time.

According to my exgirlfriend, apparently that 4 inches makes all the difference.

And they never actually used any players from this rule. Even if they did, I like when fans of other teams somehow use this as a shot at Montreal and winning Cups in the O6 era, the owners of the Habs took winning seriously and did whatever they could to win. Maybe if the Leafs or Bruins were ahead of the curve like Montreal was they would have had more championships.

What's great is that every time some uneducated fan claims this and he gets corrected, I very rarely see them post again in the thread. Interdasting....

They tried to trade him in like, his first season. From reading up about it he was thought to be really injury prone, several injuries early in his career.

You probably wouldn't want him, either.

Sadly, my extended family in QC is full of frustrated ex-Nords fans like that. They cling to the Bruins because that's the best vehicle to channel their hatred of the Habs.

I may be misinformed on that subject.

Either way, more divisional titles since we won that big silver thing than the Habs have had since '93? Does that pass your tests?

edit: I am so glad we can do this stuff again instead of ***** about the lockout. Here's too a rivalry rekindled.

Living in the area I can confirm that they have many true fans. However, that's not the whole story.

Was the Chara hit a "strong hockey play"? Was the Rome suspension dubious and biased? Was the Raymond hit suspension worthy? Was Ference's gesture to the crowd an equipment-malfunction?

Ask the fans on HFboards what they think... hell, some of them think that the McLaren hit on Zednick was a dive. You probably weren't here during the Chara hit on Pacioretty, it was chaos and lies and cognitive dissonance.... and then THEY WON THE STANLEY CUP.
