Look, I'm not trying to defend Gordon here. I just think it's crazy for anyone to still hold a grudge on the guy when he was gonna be a 1 and done anyways, and when IU wound up in the crapper by the end of that year. Neither side came out ahead of the deal at all, and I came out the worst as my 4 years in Bloomington were the most embarrassing in program history.
Your Packers bandwagoning don't count. I don't care how long you've been a fan, you've admitted already that you became a fan because they were good in the 90s.

Also doesn't count: Duke's title
This is so ass-hat, off-the-reservation wrong that I won't even dignify it with a response other than the fact that I was a huge Favre fan when I began watching football.

I thought he has claimed to be a Pack fan because his family have always been fans, and he grew up that way....
That's what I thought too and that is fine, you can't call him a bandwagoner for that. However, if he was just watching Favre dominate in the 90's and decided that was his team, totally different story. I remember that's the way it was with hockey, more Wings fans, Avs fans, Dallas, etc. than Hawks fans. Now everyone is walking around whistling Chelsea Dagger.
I never watched football in the 90s. I was five in 1999.
The first season I remember was 2001. I have family members and my own personal watching of the Packers at an early age that influenced me. Loved Lambeau and Favre. I despise the hell out of Favre now, but that's honestly part of what made me a fan. I didn't go "Oh, Bears are worse than the Packers, so I won't root for them" or anything like that.
Anyway, the post that got deleted was just to give a friendly jab at IU than I have had sports teams of my own win championships in recent memory, too, not to toot the Packers' horn (like there is anything to toot about, anyway, after that defensive effort in San Fran).
I hate having to "defend" my fanhood. I hate bandwagon fans. I felt like ripping everyone's Ray Lewis jerseys to shreds when people were wearing them out after the Super Bowl. It's very unlikely they started rooting for the Ravens when they began watching football.
Bangwagoning is disgusting. It has filled the seats at the UC, and the atmosphere is better because of it, but I hate hearing the dumb **** that gets spewed from the mouths of the uneducated or the people that think they know everything after watching a year or two of hockey.

I suppose it is ok if you always have and always will stick with them. It is frowned upon though, no doubt about that. What we really need now is a test of your loyalty. We need to see the Pack go into the cellar purely out of their own ignorance and for about 10 years while the Bears have a Patriots like dynasty at the same time. I believe that you will stick with them, but I'd just as soon see that validated with the aforementioned turn of events beginning next season.
I rooted for the Packers when they were 4-12 and 6-10 between their runs of consecutive playoff appearances.
I'm a Packers fan as much as you guys are Bears fans. I just mentioned them as one of the teams that I have seen win a title recently, and look at the outrage and questioning.
The Packers are an excellently run organization. I have no problem, as a Bears fan, saying I am jealous of that success. I am hopeful the new regime can bring those same kinds of results.
