Yeah, I mean, we're not talking about a team like the White Sox where almost every game there are plenty of empty seats. Now say they raised their season tickets, then yeah, I could understand someone being pissed. As for the Bears, they're going to sell out pretty much regardless, and people will pay even higher prices than what they'll raise the tickets to.

SOX actually jacked up lower infield prices that all get sold to season ticket holders to account for the drastic drops to all the other tickets.

Seriously? I would refuse to pay a single cent more for season tickets, and happily move to good seats somewhere in the upper deck, if not give up my tights altogether and buy last minute on StubHub.

How many corporations are buying season tickets to the White Sox? If I'm with a corporation, and am trying to impress a client, I'm not going to a White Sox game...

I side with Ray on this. How many of those are really corporate seats? You'd be a hell of a lot better taking that money and investing in partial season Hawks and Bulls plans.

Why not? Because you're not a Sox fan?

And a lot of companies buy them. That's what a very large amount of the infield lower level tickets and club seats are bought by. I used to get tickets all the time from my aunt who worked for a mortgage company and a family friend who works for a steel company in Hammond. If you're a company in Sox territory, you aren't buying Cubs tickets...

You get double the amount of games for the same price if you do Sox tickets...

My god, take the Cubbie goggles off guys.

And you think an out of towner who also isn't a White Sox fan wants to sit and watch the White Sox for 3 hours not to mention the time it takes to get there and back?

You aren't going to find that many people out there that come to visit this great city, that are not White Sox fans, that would want to spend 5+ hours it would take to do the whole baseball game experience. I'm not saying there aren't any corporate season ticket holders, just that I doubt there are enough to justify raising season ticket holder prices on the loyal fans.

But that only really matters if you're buying tickets to see baseball played, and not root for a team or specific players...

You're acting like companies only by tickets to impress clients, and don't give a lot of them to employees and gifts. There's a lot of that. There's people who are fans who own companies who buy tickets on company dime, like my eye doctor. Those are the kinds of people I'm talking about, not out of town client people.

I mean, just go to the games and you'll see the people sitting there are fans. That doesn't mean they aren't corporate bought tickets.

Isn't that the main point of buying the tickets though?

Never said it wasn't.

I just don't understand why people think it's bad that they'd raise prices on the tickets they consistently sell out of every damn year. It's called smart business...

Raising prices on inelastic goods = Raised Revenue.

not to mention ticket sales are one of the few examples of effective price discrimination.

When were the season ticket prices raised? I can't find anything on it, and the only articles I am finding are how attendance has dropped every single year since the WS...

Again, season ticket prices were NOT raised.

Nearly all seats in the park were lowered. Seats in the lower level in the infield were slightly raised. All of those tickets are bought by STHs and a vast majority are company tickets.

Slightly raised or jacked up?

That's the issue. You raise some season tickets while making singles cheaper to get people to come to the game that clearly don't give a damn.

Semantics. Can you not 'jack up' prices by 3-4 dollars?
