If RNH is out long term... they get MacKinnon or Barkov or Monahan... quick, simple solution.

Seriously though I agree, they aren't going to get an easy and instant replacement for RNH.

It looks bad right now because Belanger, Horcoff and now RNH are out... but any NHL team is going to look like crap with 3 of their top 4 centres down. No team has enough depth to fill in like that. The Oilers just have to make do with guys like Lander and Arcobello/VV until some of the regulars come back.

No one will look good is right, but there are better options out there that can cost very little.

Exactly. I think I even had that very suggestion in my post, but took it out for some reason before clicking submit.

I wouldn't mind taking a flyer on Connolly.

I'd like to see the Oilers bring in Johansen. Their scouts have always been high on him, and he'd answer a lot of problems down the middle. Hemsky and a 2nd for Johansen and a 1st?

Hall - Nuge - Eberle
Hartikainen - Johansen - Yakupov
Smyth - Gagner - Jones
Paajarvi - Belanger - Petrell

Like the idea of getting Johansen, but him and a first is probably too much to Columbus for Hemsky and a 2nd. On paper it doesn't look too bad but that first is going to be pretty high.

Maybe we swap 1st round picks this year instead of a 2nd. Or we throw in a mid-level prospect with Hemsky and the 2nd

CBJ has really no reason to give up on Johansen at this point. I also highly doubt Hemmer and a 2nd gets it done.

Columbus wouldn't make that trade straight up let alone throw in their 1st.

Everyone has a right to an opinion. No one has the right to be listened to. If you spout such nonsense, people are gonna tune you out.

It's very clear he's already long past Daigle territory.

Hall has beat Daigles career years in his first two season and they play a completely different style.

I don't see any similarities what so ever... Hall would've scored back to back 30g seasons had he not been hurt.

If Hall scores on the PS last game there isn't even any discussion. Unfortunately breakaways/shootouts aren't his forte. If that was Eberle this board has a completely different mood.

Daigle was an incredible hockey talent, the truth is he just didn't like to play hockey (believe it or not). It's not for everyone, it's a grind, and while he had the tools to do it, he's admitted he often just went to the rink out of obligation.

You'd need a fire hose to keep Hall away from the arena.

Kreuger said on twitter that RNH could have played tonight and will likely play against DET. He also said this "bump" is unrelated to the shoulder he had surgery on. People need to relax a bit on this RNH long term talk. Just writing what i read on the Oilers twitter today

Western Conference issues for the king POV.

And last time we made a deal with the Kings we weren't on good terms were we,

I don't believe the Oilers when it comes to injuries. A "bump" and "scratched tonight" turns into "out two weeks" followed by "surgery and out for the season" with this team.

I don't think people would be so worried if there wasn't such a long history of Oiler players having a "minor injury" or "bump" turn into serious long term issues. And you don't even have to go that far back to find multiple examples of that type of thing happening.
