Assuming that once the trade is made, he signs with the team traded to and comes over from Europe. I think he has an NHL out clause on his KHL contract. What would you offer?

I don't think he has an out clause because he doesn't have an NHL contract.
But we retained his rights by qualifying him? Wouldn't that mean something?
The Rangers could trade his rights but he couldn't play for the team that acquired him until his KHL season was over. Same thing as if he the Rangers wanted to bring him back.

He does.

Mats Zuccarello's recently signed one-year KHL deal includes an NHL out clause.
The New York Rangers still hold his NHL rights. He had two goals and three points in 10 games with the Rangers in 2011-12.

I'd be beside myself with a 5th round pick for him. He's worthless.
I wouldn't necessarily say he's worthless because he was on a good pace when called up. In the 2011-2012 season he had 6 goals and 17 assists 23 points with a plus 3 in 42 games when called up by the Rangers. Last season he had 2 goals and an assist in 10 games with an even rating. But Mats was also starting to be more of a typical Ranger. He was hitting the body and was blocking shots (which btw is how he got injured). He was really starting to get the NHL style of play. Yes he's really small, but he was pretty effective on our third line last season and the year before so saying that he's worthless isn't the case. I'd take your fifth for him, though.
Have you seen him play? If you've seen him play then you wouldn't be saying that.
Yes I have. I don't think his game is fit for the NHL (not good enough for a top six role and lacks the size to be a bottom six player...the NHL and AHL are filled with those types) and he's playing overseas. He's proven absolutely nothing in the NHL...the most he's going to get is a conditional late round pick as long as those two facts are true.

What? He's in the same position as someone like Omark. Hasn't proven he can maintain a top-6 role and not physically suited for a bottom-6 role. Anyone who's seen him play knows that's the current case. He's still a question mark and as an undersized player (who's 25 and not established) he wont generate a ton of interest. Plus he's not even under contract, which doesn't exactly help.

I could see him being a 3rd liner on an offense first team maybe, so you're right worthless was probably harsh.
Maybe a top line compliment with 2 fabulous players, as we've seen in PIitsburgh with pedestrian talents occasionally getting a top 6 call with Malkin, Crosby, and Neal doing the heavy lifting.

Yeah I could see him on Pittsburgh. Him on a line with Dupuis maybe?

Okay I see what you are saying, but the point I was mentioning is that he was getting there. You're right he hasn't proven anything, but he was playing as a role type player with NYR before his injury and was pretty decent at it. He also was on the 2nd power play unit for us and he can generate some offense. He put up some points, right? He won't get that much interest, but if there was a team that could use a little bit of offense for cheap? He's the guy IMO.
This. You're basically looking at an irrelevant pick, or a mid 20s, AHL caliber bust
Like I've been saying, he is not proven yet. Saying he's a bust is your opinion, but he has put up the points and was getting significant time with the Rangers.
