He's good positionally but isn't strong enough on his skates to knock anyone off the puck.

I remembered how Kings fan said they wouldn't trade him even for a 1st round pick a couple years back. What happened to this kid?

Tough time to trade a player like this. At the beginning of the season, most teams have their rosters more or less set. I think the Kings could have gotten more if they traded him in the offseason.

**Not knocking the kings, the situation is what it is. It must not be easy when a non-regular demands a trade 10 games into the season.

Buried by top-6 depth and asked for a trade. If anything this just shows how deep the Kings are.

Settle down...not that big of a steal if one at all. We are talking about the Monarchs 2nd line center and 5th leading scorer behind 3 rookies. The rookie Vey stole his spot in Manchester and he saw no future with LA so his agent asked for a trade. A 5th is fair value...

Good trade for NJD. Not sure why LA settled for a 5th, seems like a waste.

Wish the Leafs had taken the chance at such a low cost...

probably a case of a GM who wants to do right by his prospect (i.e. trading Loktionov ASAP) and sees an intersecting opportunity to also build goodwill with another GM, who in this case also happens to be a friend and mentor. Realistically, he probably could have gotten a B prospect along with the pick if he was patient but he obviously weighed his options and decided that it was better long-term to just build goodwill and demonstrate that he's willing to do right by his players.

All three now making full-time contributions in the NHL, right?

Just where on the Kings' roster would you have Holloway and Moller playing right now? These guys were out of time. At some point you have to let them move on to make room for guys like Toffoli and Vey.

Holloway should have stuck around, he might have got the call from the big club last season, but then the Kings might not have brought up the bigger guys in Nolan and King, both of which made significant contributions in the Kings' success.

If he is not a regular in the devils lineup by years end then I am guessing he heads back to russia.
