whoa, didn't expect to see something like this when I entered
According to some of the posters on the NYI board, the inconsistent 24 yr old is expendable because Anders Lee is tearing it up at Notre Dame, Petrov is developing well in the KHL, Strome who had a quiet NYI training camp is having a great junior season and Nino/Nelson had strong first half seasons in the AHL.
Gotta shake my head because only 1 of those youngsters has sniffed the nhl at this point and the one who has played in the NHL, Nino, had an awful rookie seaspon.
Colorado is fine down the middle short term. The areas of concern are on the wing due to Landeskog and Downie being out of the line-up. The $16 million dollar man David Jones is struggling mightily and is also banged up.
Assuming they weren't division rivals, a guy like Devon Setoguchi would be a nice fit.
Sad thing is we had Mueller and Flash, both we could've resigned and we wouldn't have any problem on the wings.
EJ is probably an untouchable, but the Avs should really look hard against trading Hejda... he's very good value for how much he's worth. What he doesn't have is a good defense man to play with. After EJ/Hejda, the Avs have a whole lot of fringe/depth defenseman.
I'd love to be able to shift off guys like SOB/Zanon... because under Zanon/SOB/Hunwick, we have nearly 6M invested in 1 player (and 2 players who should be healthy scratches).
They might get traded closer to the deadline teams shore up D depth.
