I put Stewart there for his size and checking ability. It's the 4th line they aren't going to see a lot of minutes. Look who he's playing with. That line is huge. Any team would be intimated to play against that line up of monsters. Yes, I'm high on life thanks for asking.

Oh you mean the guy who won gold for us 4 years ago?

Sure I'd replace him with a guy whose won a Stanley Cup. When Ward is hot there's no one better in the league. Look what he did to the Leafs the other night.

Completely forgot about Hamhuis. I think he makes it, he is amazing defensively. Would be an ideal partner for Letang or Piet.

Ray Ferraro's is looking pretty good...

Quote:
Ferraro tapped six forwards to return for 2014, including a projected top line of Sidney Crosby, Eric Staal and Corey Perry, followed by Jonathan Toews, Rick Nash, and Mike Richards. With five of the six returnees having been Olympic first-timers in Vancouver, it leaves only Nash as a two-time Olympic vet amongst the forward ranks.

Stepping up to fill the void are six young forwards who are all currently under 26. Canada's top two point producers from the 2011-12 season have spots as reigning 'Rocket' Richard Trophy-winner Steven Stamkos and Flyers captain Claude Giroux join Nash on the second line.

Flanking Toews on Ferraro's third line are a pair of young players that have elevated their game since entering the league as highly-touted draft prospects in John Tavares and Tyler Seguin.

Meanwhile, the fourth line sees Richards slide over to the wing to play alongside Jordan Staal and Edmonton's Jordan Eberle, both of whom make their Olympic debuts after representing Canada at the Under-18, World Junior and World Championship levels.

Chicago's Patrick Sharp and Dallas Stars power forward Jamie Benn slot in as depth options on the roster.

The defence is anchored by a trio of returnees who have all been nominated for or won the Norris Trophy since the Vancouver games: Chicago's Duncan Keith, Los Angeles Kings rearguard Drew Doughty and Nashville captain Shea Weber.

All three were under the radar a year prior to the selection of the Vancouver team and they're joined by a trio of offensive weapons from the point: Pittsburgh's Kris Letang, Rangers veteran Dan Girardi and young St. Louis blueliner Alex Pietrangelo.

Joining the squad as extra blue line options are stay-at-home stalwart Marc Staal (who completes Canada's Staal family trifecta for 2014) and Philadelphia rearguard Braydon Coburn.

Starting in net for Canada is an Olympic newcomer in Montreal keeper Carey Price. While short on Olympic experience, Price will forever be remembered for standing on his head at the 2007 World Juniors to help Canada secure gold.

Carolina's Cam Ward slots in as his backup, bringing a Stanley Cup, Conn Smythe Trophy and World Championship gold medal to the team. Pittsburgh's Marc-Andre Fleury reprises his role as third keeper from the Vancouver team on Ferraro's roster and also brings a Cup ring and international experience to the table.

Yeah Ferraro's looks alright. This is the team I'd ice:

Stamkos - Crosby - Perry
Tavares - E. Staal - Giroux
Nash - Toews - Eberle
Lucic - Bergeron - M. Richards

Extra: J. Staal, Seguin, St Louis

Weber - Boyle
Pietrangelo - Subban
Keith - Doughty

Extra: M. Staal, Seabrook

Price
Luongo
Fleury

Oh man, we could ice two or three teams, but here is mine:

Stamkos-Crosby-Perry - obvious
Nash-Tavares-Giroux - Tavares and Giroux are locks
Skinner-Toews-E.Staal - balanced line
M.Richards-Getzlaf-Bergeron - defensive line

Considerations: Benn, Eberle, Hall

Pietrangelo-Letang
Doughty-Weber
Keith-Seabrook
Extras: M. Staal, maybe Subban

Price
Ward
Luongo

I hope after Sochi - that Hockey Canada re-insitutes the national team. I think having an under 18 team and the over 18 team. It's nothing against sending NHLers to the Olympics (I personally don't like it). I hate the fact that the season dies to send the NHLers to the Olympics.

You can argue it's "to send the best" players, and that's all well and good, but Olympic Soccer is just as exciting (so I've heard, I don't watch soccer) and they only send 3 or so "League" players.

but as that will apparently never fly again.... eh

No thanks ,i think the O hockey is a unique opportunity to unit the best players on the planet for the greatest tournament one could hope for.

Blows the SCPOs away.

Kris Letang - Brent Seabrook

Carey Price
Marc-André Fleury
Roberto Luongo

---

If Thornton and Marleau stay this hot until next year, I would swap them in instead of Hall & Seguin.
I will work off what this guy did AND put my spin in on this..

I think the team will be VERY young and tough but very skilled as well..

Nash...Crosby...Perry
Hall...Stamkos...Tavares
E.Staal...Giroux...M.Richards
Bergeron...J.Staal/Carter...Eberle

Doughty...Keith
Subban...Staal
Letang...Weber/Pietraneglo

Price
Fleury
Ward

No way Marleau and the boys make the team and I doubt Iginla can keep up.

I am skeptical about P.k But Myers could take his spot.

Olympic soccer is absolutely terrible by the way. Not even close to the Euro's or World's. Since the IIHF world championship is pretty crappy itself we might as well see the best players go up against each other at the Oly's.
