6 mil is high but there is really nobody better as a UFA this year. Pllus it is also doubling down on Luke Schenn, as having a stable veteran partner for two years can only help his development.

This years UFA period could be crazy. I wouldn't be surprised with the new cap on years that you might see Perry get close to 9 mil cap hit and someone like Streit or Hainsey get over 5 mil a year. 6 mil might not be that crazy when all is said and done.

Also keep in mind that the cap is dropping by about $6M, so the effect is equivalent to like ~$6.55M this season.

Timonen is no longer a 6m per year quality defenseman. Sucks cause I really like him, but he's not who he used to be.

Of course Carle is complete garbage to a lot of people.

Anyway...it's one year for Timonen..Carle's contract was obviously more years but he still fit a need regardless. Would have liked 4.5 to 5M for Timonen but what can you do...6m is a lot but guy has been a good soldier...prolly why he's getting this one year bonus of sorts.
