Rashad took a significant tumble.
Shocked they have Werdum ahead of Cormier, but I like it.

Looks good to me.

The only one that looks kind of off is Featherweight. Edgar hasn't even won a fight in the division yet, while Guida did. I would slide Guida into the spot right behind Edgar.

I could see including Vitor in the P4P list ...maybe Barao as well, although he does have a short (but impressive) resume.

I don't think Frankie should be on the p4p list right now. There are about 5 guys that could be ahead of him.

Gives the fans something to talk about. Gives the UFC another way to market fights. Gives the fighters a good negotiating tool.

The purpose is certainly not to give the fighters a negotiating tool. It may help in that process, but that's certainly not the intent of it. Zuffa could always tell fighters it's about their draw/hype, not their rank anyway.

My take:

1) It allows them to promote fights better, indicating who challengers are to casual fans.
2) It gives people something to talk about.
3) It helps counteract published top-10 rankings from other publications, which include fighters with other promotions.

Was having this discussion on Sherdog (most did not agree with me. Lol). Apparently Sherdog still had Rashad ranked ahead of Nog, and I agree with that. Rankings for me personally are basically a list of which guys would beat who, and that is largely based on their last handful of fights. Now sure Nog took a (uneventful) decision from Rashad, but over their past few fights, both beat Tito, Rashad went to a decision with Jones (and looked better than most against him), lost to Machida, and beat Thiago Silva, Rampage, and Phil Davis. Nog lost to Davis, and lost to Bader, then barely beat Brilz, beat Cane, and took a decision from Rashad. The weight of Nog beating Rashad doesn't outweigh Rashad's far superior resume. Not to mention Rashad would be the favorite in a rematch, which also factors into the ranking IMO.

Regardless of the intent, it definitely is a negotiating tool for fighters. It's one of the reasons the UFC took so long to institute this program.

Yeah... he is a likable fighter, no doubt, but he has not managed to win in 4 out of his last 5 bouts.

I don't understand the hype behind Edgar. How can he be in the top 10 p4p rankings when he's lost what, 4 of his last 5?

He's 1-3-1 in his last 5 I believe. He arguably beat Henderson but you can't award P4P spots based on that, it has to be off actual results. His losses were against guys ahead of him, at least.

He should be a top 15-20 guy, IMO. There is no way he should be ahead of JDS, probably Renan Barao, maybe Johnny Hendricks, Sonnen is probably at least equal..

I don't know, I guess they it's pretty close. I'll just always go with the guy wining fights as opposed to the guy who has won 1/5 fights.

I'm with you. The better fighter should be ranked above. Upsets happen.

Personally, I think Cruz should be higher in the P4P list than Benson, and definitely higher than Cain.

You could make the case that Henderson shouldn't have the title at all given the somewhat controversial decision against Edgar. On top of that, he still has a recent and unavenged loss out there in Pettis. He looked incredible against Diaz and very good against Guida (who makes it tough for anyone to look good since he's such a boring piece of **** against anyone he can outwrestle). I get that he has fought 3 times (Diaz, Edgar, Edgar) in the time since Cruz last fought, but I don't know if that trumps Cruz's list of wins.

Cruz avenged his only "recent" loss when he beat Faber. He's taken out Mighty Mouse (a current UFC champ), Faber (former WEC champ), Bowles (to win the WEC championship from a guy who had just KO'd the top 5 P4P Miguel Torres), Benevidez x2, and humiliated Jorgenson. Injuries have kept him out of action, which hurts his stock I suppose, but GSP was still recognized near the top during his lengthy absence.

Just my opinion, of course, and P4P never really means much. I just think he should be top 5 P4P.

3. Jon Jones
4. Jose Aldo
5. Dominick Cruz
6. Benson Henderson
7. Dan Henderson
8. Cain Velasquez
9. Gilbert Melendez
10. Demetrious Johnson

Cruz shouldn't even be in the P4P until he proves that he can still fight.

General protocol is that fighters are given a year of inactivity before they're taken off lists. Writers never actually do it though.

Carwin hasn't fought in 1.5 years, has lost his last 2 fights and because of those loses/injuries hasn't won a fight in nearly 3 years. I'm not sure he belongs on that heavy weight list, even if it is at 10.

Neither he nor Cruz belong in any list. Cruz only belongs as being listed as the champ.

No one has the balls to take them off. GSP passed the year mark of inactivity and stayed on lists.
