why is everyone saying we dominated? We played great in the first, played ok in the 2nd But could have been way better. We were good defensively in the 2nd but nothing else. The 3rd was an absolute joke. ZERO heart for the final 2 periods. This game is up there with the first game of the yr against the leafs.
Now on to a pissed off Buffalo team who will play a lethargic Habs team.
i agree. Montreal far from dominated. They had some quality chances but rarely controlled the play for any length of time. They had a difficult time generating offense.
Pretty funny, some fans on the leafs board are saying we have a good record so far because we're playing only home games, we haven't faced good teams yet, we're living off our PP....NO EXCUSES.
To me Pacioretty looked all right. Cole was killing every second play they created though.
Gionta was probably the most useless player on the ice, and has been for quite a couple of games now.
Therrien played his top-6 way too much in comparison to his bottom-6 also tonight.
To be fair the kid line was a mess, the only bottom 6 player who wasn't outplayed was Eller. Gionta has been getting brutal after a promising start to the season though. Him and Cole are not representing upstate NY very nicely right now.
For the final 2 periods I would totally go that far lol. No show in the 2nd and no show in the 3rd with minimal chances in the 3rd. Yes we did play way better in the 1st than any period vs the laffs but the last 2 periods seemed alike.
Pacioretty - DD - Galchenyuk
Bourque - Plekanec - Cole
Gallagher - Eller - Gionta
Prust - White - Moen

I like this. Short of sliding DD over to the wing, this is probably the best way you can give the team back two lines that can take tougher minutes and give the easy offensive minutes back to the DD line. Nice post.
We should Try out Eller as a 2nd line center and Put DD on wing just to see where it leads. He did have 3 points the last game he played more than 15 minutes...
People saying there is no place for a skilled forward like Eller are dumb with the way Cole, Desharnais have been playing this year on our top 6, he more that have his place.
Plus against the Bruins he is usually very good.
I know people don't know to talk about our size in the top 6 but our centers are really small DD and Plekanec we need a bigger center that's not getting pushed around. Eller could do that.
This year we are 0-2 in rivalries and there is a reason to that. We were soft as butter in those games.

There is some truth to this. 7 of 9 games at home is a strange schedule.
Guys, lets not change everything as a reaction to this game. The Habs have been playing well and they played a decent game against the Bruins. When the chips were down, the Bruins emerged as the better team. It's not a huge surprise, they are recent cup champs and we have a relatively new configuration. No need to make drastic changes. Their skill and experience beat us fair and square tonight an no amount of line juggling would have fixed that.
Let's grow from this game and be better next time we face them.

I like this...I'd keep Bourque and Plekanec together, they are driving play most of the time they are out there. Playing our two smallest wingers together might lead to jokes but I feel like Gallagher is a good compliment for Eller, and if that line can handle a two way role the DD line can go back to the exploitative scoring it thrives in.

they had absolutly no problem generating offense except for a stretch in the 3rd period, but they should of been up 10-2 at that point anyways, how many tap in goals did they miss the net on? Another player shot the puck in the corner on a break a way, a good team finishes

Mess is an overstatement. Gallagher missed clearing attempt after clearing attempt, and in my opinion was the weak link of that line.
