I'm new to this, but my thinking was this: The Leafs want to get rid of Komisarek, the jets are in a position to adsorb his contract. Bozak re- signs with the jets and centres a strong 3rd line. Telegin is in tough to make the Jets any time soon but is an intriguing prospect. Hainsey steps right in to help a shaky Leafs d-core and can resign for less than he's making... And the 3rd just because... i don't know...

Leafs don't need anymore dman and already have prospects like Telegin in the minors. Komi has been a different player this season besides his contract is done after next season, Bozak is expandable but not for that package.

So ... Toronto trades it's #1 centre for.... nothing..

If we wanted rid of Komisarek that badly, we'll just buy him out.

And all credibility is lost.

Komisarek has been our best defensive Dman this year, leafs can't lose Bozie who would be tied in first for scoring as a C on your team.

Wow, I know I have homer tendencies & I bleed blue & white, but no way can you say Komisarek is our best defensive Dman this year. You must be trolling

Komisarek carries a $4.5 million hit. The usual price is the team taking on that kind of hit gets a 2nd rounder for the favor.
Bozak isn't worth anything to the Jets as there are better choices for 3rd line center then a pending UFA.
**************************************************
Telegin is 20 so it depends on your definition of soon.
Hainsey comes in handy on a team missing Buff & Bogo.
************************************************** *******
It's a great trade for the Leafs.

Really?

Name me one glaring mistake he has made.

He hasn't played all games, but when he did he was far and away our best Dman. Stop basing him on his past or his contract

Ron Hainsey at 4.5 comes in handy.
Komisarek at 4.5 needs a 2nd to get rid of.

Not to mention Komi is the better Dman

Bozak, a UFA isn't worth anything, Hainsey a UFA comes in handy.

Telegin, a meh prospect is 20 so he is instantly valuable.

I am not ready to give up on Telegin yet. He was injured last year and is having a bit of a slow start this year. That being said, he's looking like he could turn into a beast.

I don't think that trade would really fit what the Jets are trying to do, but Hainsey is definitely available => in a perfect world would love to get a 2nd round draft pick, or a prospect such as Matt Finn or Ashton Carter for him.

Just can't see it happening though

Komi is a terrible D-Man at a terrible contract...There is a reason both coaches have him as the 7th D-man. If it was just a contract issue, then he would have been amnestied...His contract just goes along with how god awful he is

idk about best but he's certainly been solid. hard to argue phaneuf has been better.

No deal from the leafs. We don't need to get rid of Komi, and we're even more screwed if we get rid of bozak

A lot of people don't seem to notice how different Komi has played this year. No ones saying he's now a top pairing shutdown dman, but this season he's been a steadily shutdown dman. He hasn't played a ton, but in the few games he's played, almost every game he was atleast the top 2 best dman on the leafs. Any true leaf fan whos watched the games will agree.

But this is a stupid trade, for both teams.

I'll do it from Toronto's POV.

BWAAAAHAHAHA In no way shape or form is Komi a better Dman than Hainsey. He's 7th in TOI/game for Leaf's D men. It's not like the people beating him out for time on the ice are anything special either.

He was injured, which of course you neglect because you are unaware of.

He's been our best defensive Dman (IMO, either first or 2nd best), we have a logjam at D and Nonis will do something about that soon.

Stats are cute and stuff, but they don't tell everything, especially for defensive Dmen. Komisarek is a top 6 Dman on almost every team in the league, and can definitely make some teams top 4s

Keep in mind he is NOT efficient in a run and gun system which Wilson implemented. Stick him in a right defensive team such as the Bruins (or what Carlyle is trying to establish) and he is certainly effective defensively and very physical while doing so.

His puck handling has looked much better this year, he's took it on himself to lose 15-20 pounds and improve his skating and offense. He's a great leader and character guy as well. Trust me, the leafs are not going to be sending any picks with him to get rid of him, nor would we dump him for free unless Holzer continues to shine like his last game and makes him expendable, in which we will receive a positive return.

You can dress him up in a bow as much as you want. There is no way that he is a better D man than Hainsey at the moment. The only thing he has done better is hit more.

Points
Komi: 0
Hainsey: 3
Adv: Hainsey

TOI/Game
Komi: 15:20
Hainsey: 23:51
Adv: Hainsey

Hits
Komi: 11
Hainsey: 4
Adv: Komi

Blocked Shots
Komi: 6
Hainsey: 23

Hainsey has been very stable in his own zone. He's moving the puck very well while settling in a shutdown role. From what I have seen from Komi over the years, he does nothing better than Hainsey other than the fact that he hits more. It would be very hard to find a team that is willing to take on his contract for what he does. Maybe Philly if they get desperate enough.

$4.5 mil for the next 2 years is simply too much for a guy who does not do enough. Hainsey is overpaid as well however he is in the last year of his contact and he plays a more versatile game which adds to his value on the market.

Not only does this trade not make any sense, it is horrible for both teams.

Komisarek's value is virtually zero. Toronto would have to add if Komisarek is included in any trade (or take most of his salary). Hainsey is currently WPGs #2 defenceman with Byfuglien and Bogosian injured and is much more valuable, despite his own over inflated contract. I think most people outside of leaf nation will agree that Hainsey > Komisarek.

Bozak is underrated because he is playing in the Toronto market, but Winnipeg has no need for an extra centre. Telegin will not be traded because Chevy does not believe in trading away our prospects, especially those in the first year of their ELC.

I don't see a counter proposal to this offer. We may dump Hainsey at the deadline if we are far and away out of a playoff spot. His value would be similar to the Oduya trade with the Hawks - a 2nd and 3rd round pick.

Ashton Carter eh? Is he the son of Anson Carter or did you mean Ashton Kutcher?

It's actually Carter Ashton who you are referring to. Son of former Jets player Brent Ashton.
