Uh, he's so untouchable because he went ppg last year and is a dynamic offensive forward. I know he's been snake-bitten this year, but he's proven himself over the years.
What is or isn't a good deal is subjective. What may seem like a good deal to you could look like underpayment to the Leafs.

We're overrating Kessel? I say you're under rating him because he plays for the Leafs.

Sure this may be his peak value, but that doesn't mean we have to trade him.
Obviously you have a much lower standard of a player who should be considered untouchable than I do. Kessel is not an untouchable player. You just think that because he is the best player that the Leafs currently have.
He's not suited to play in Toronto because he obviously hates the spotlight that goes along with it. Look at him in every interview. He looks like he'd rather be undergoing dental surgery than talking to the media. I just think that he's a guy who would be much more comfortable in a market where hockey isn't that big.
I'm not suggesting that the Leafs should trade him for a bag of pucks, but if a good deal comes along they should take it.
I doubt very much that he wants to re-sign, and if he did that the Leafs would have to overpay for him. I don't think he's worth it. Don't get me wrong, he's a good player, but I have been watching him since he was in college, and I just don't see why you guys are talking about him like he's one of the best players in the league. While Letang is a great player, another puck moving D isnt exactly a top priority for the leafs
If they were to get rid of Kessel it would have to be for a #1C/#D or a goalie
Leafs wont trade Kessel... any possible move they make would be lateral unless theyre blowing up the team (which doesnt make sense cause Kessel is only 25)

Newsflash: he was a point per game player with 35+ goals on a garbage team playing with a scrub as a centerman feeding him the puck.
he may be the leafs best player but that doesnt diminish his talent. he had 82 points last year... thats an undeniable fact
6th in the league in points and 7th in goals DOES make him one of the best players in the league
